| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Video with HVX200 Hello fellow shooters I am shooting with the Panasonic HVX200 in the Gates housing with L&M HID lights and have gathered some nice footage so far. Can anyone else out there shooting with the HVX give any advice on what scene files and settings they have found work well at various depths. I have found macro stuff with lights great, but anything wide shows a bit more grain than I think is acceptable. The blues and blacks are grainy for the most part. I have tried dropping the pedestal but am not all that happy with the results. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. |

Just some general thoughts, sorry if I propose stuff below your skill-level. -check if camerasettings you select use autogain, might swap in as you go deeper... what depths are you talking about? what vis? whats the average distance to object of the "no-like" footage? -if possible play arround with compression settings, you sure know, noise shows in luminance and blues first -if possible use 50i/60i, not progressive. - in general, keep the camera-internal signal processing as "clean" as possible -are you judging HDV-footage on SD monitor? -what monitor are you using for reference? -if you shoot on SD, compare it to native semi-pro miniDV ( f.e. PD150/VX2000 and such ) - are you coming from miniDV-format? cheers, hoffi |
