| CCR Photographer Current Rebreather/s: | Tobermory - Sep 29, 2006 Nothing like skipping off work on a Friday to go diving. We made our way up to Tobermory and did the Arabia and Niagara 2. The waters were flat calm, sun was shining and air was warm, at least for the end of September. Visibility on the Arabia was excellent at 60 ft+, the Niagara 2 wasn't quite as good, but still about 40 ft or so. Only 2 buddy teams. Nothing like having the wreck to yourselves.... | CCR Photographer Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Tobermory - Sep 29, 2006 I also thought of Tobermory on the Isle of Mull Tobermory is one of our most popular areas for diving in the Great Lakes. For hundreds of years, Tobermory has been a major shipping port, and with the very unpredictable late fall weather, there have been hundreds of ships wrecked over the years. Whats Tobermory in canada like? One of the big reasons why we have such unpredictable weather in November is because the lakes warm up during the hot summers we get up there, and come November, we get two streams of air masses converging in the area - the cold northerly air from the north and arctic, meeting with the warmer air from the south and the gulf stream, then converging over the water that has been warmed all summer. This can make for sudden and violent storms, which has taken many ships over the centuries. Just an amazing place to dive. Water is generally pretty clear, as you can see in the pics, but the deeper water tends to be pretty cold, though surface temps can get into the 20C+ range in the summer. Check out www .tobermory.com

| CCR Photographer Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Tobermory - Sep 29, 2006 Hi If you're referring to the one in Canada, I prefer to go late August and through September. The visibility tends to get better later in the season, although visibility is generally reasonably good. There are a couple of dive shops right in the harbour, and both run charters. G&S Watersports and Diver's Den. Both are good operators. What is the best time in the year to dive Tobermory? What dive centre is the best? Cheers Pedro
