Absolutely stunning pics! Thanks for posting. Is it difficult to get permission to dive the cave?

Randy, I can try to get local contacts in Budapest if you're interested. I think they are the same guys involved in the exploration of Isverna.

If I remember correct Janne uses 200 or 250W HID lights in his pictures. He does not use flashes at all...

Work of art I say!

Re: Cool cave diving pics in Helsingin Sanomat Kuukausiliite

Gentleman,

I can supply you with some up to date info about the Molnar Janos cave at budapest. I have just dove there 2 weeks ago. The Hungarian ministry of BS has put some restrictions out a few years ago when an over qualified diver got stuck in a cave for 116 hours. He was saved alive, but they figured if no one dives in caves, there will be no more accidents. smart thinking. Anyway. Yes you can dive in the Molnar Janos cave pretty much any time you wanted to. All you have to do is call a guy named Szabolcs Storozinsky (cell: 00-36-70-226-26-00 and he will arrange the dive/s for you. He could also help you getting-mixing gas for you. He is a very exprienced TDI instructor trainer, and cave instructor. He is a part of the exploration team. Unfortunatelly he doesn't speak good english, so if you need translation call me on 00-36-70-943-3983. The lenght of the cave line in the complex cave system is more than 6km now, so there is enough to see for a few hundred dives. In order to dive that cave, you would have to be cave trained with valid DAN insurance(or other kind of insurance) and to hold a valid medical certificate. should you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me. here are 2 links where you could watch a nice video that was taken by a polish tech diver group.

It is just too cool be able to live in a metrolopitan city and cave dive for 6km without getting out of town...

Roland, thanks for the info...
