Ikelite or Aquatica?

Hello,

I'm looking at the D70s and was looking for feed back on housings for it. I'm looking at both the Ikelite and Aquatica housings. I noticed that the Ikelite housing has the iTTL capability where the Aquatica does not. Is it a worth going with the Ikelite just for that?

Hi,

both housing will work for you.

I had Ikelite and are now using Subal when shooting for the Diving Magazines. Both housings will have the same optical quality.

iTTL is usefull only in macro work, in wide angle you should have the strobes on manual.

What I would consider if I were you is:

1: Which housing has the best viewfinder. This as the D70 has a very small viewfinder.
2. Plastic or Aluminium housing. When going deeper I personally prefer Alu even if the depth rating is the same.
3. Which housing has the most flexibility with ports and extension rings.

The only lenses you will need (to start with) is the Nikon 10.5 mm Fisheye and for macro I would go for the Sigma 150mm Macro which is ultrafast.

Good luck
