Re: 450ft camera housing

Re: 450ft camera housing

Gates rates most of their housings to 450 ft, and some of the smaller manufacturers like BS Kinetics in Germany will also build housings for that pressure range. Usually the dome ports become prohibitively expensive when you want to go much deeper than that.

Russ,

you dint specify whether it was a video or camera housing. While most of our housings are rated to 300ft( the New FX 1 and Titan D200 are 400ft depth rated) most have been much deeper. Every manufacturer rates their housing to a depth rating based on many factors. Although ours are rated at 300-400ft this doesnt mean when one reaches 305ft the housing implodes, send me a PM or call me and I can explain in further detail.

The one thing you will notice on a housing with a well thought out user interface is well...easy to use and not adding to everything else thats going on when your at 90-120m

Why not make one ?

I manged to make one that worked to 300ft, and I reckon it would have done 400ft+

Re: 450ft camera housing

Not sure making a housing is going to work, they have had an empty battery case implode at 330, so they are wary of such things. Though having said that they made new larger battery canisters (bench tested to the extreme)

thank you all for the responses

Re: 450ft camera housing

The Aquatica housings go to 250ft stock. If you tell them the camera is specifically for deep they will make a few modifications (eg. replace springs with stronger ones) and it will work down to 400ft. Seacam and Subal housings also go pretty deep without modification. Check this link for more info on the topic:

Is it specifically still photography or is video an option? 650ft for 1740 dollars is what i just paid for my housing!!! fantastic bit of kit by aditech the mangrove mvd pro.

failing that, they make them in house, they might be able to custom build one for you.

regards simon

Re: 450ft camera housing

I discussed deep housings with several mnfs.

Hugfot said their standard (D200) housing will be fine for 240m (800ft) they just need to change the button springs to stiffer ones.

I was initally going the homebuild route but found sub 150m (500ft) It was very had to turn the controlls (o-ring pressure) had to fit a bigger lever arm.
