Hugfot said their standard (D200) housing will be fine for 240m (800ft) they just need to change the button springs to stiffer ones.

I was initally going the homebuild route but found sub 150m (500ft) It was very had to turn the controlls (o-ring pressure) had to fit a bigger lever arm.
Thanks, on your big dives do you bring a camera/video ect?

In looking at the housings myself for a friend the Light and Motion seemed to have some really nice products but the $ was a little more than he wants to spend so now it seems maybe Aquatica would do the trick. Online the rating I think is around 350 but in talking to them they will replace the springs for the housing to function deep enough for $100. Though having said that if they would reply to my emails again for dealer info that would be even better

Re: 450ft camera housing

I have taken my Gates PDX10 housing to well over 300', but it is rated to 450'.

That housing also happens to be for sale (along with the PDX10 camcorder).

Re: 450ft camera housing

Just bear in mind which port you are using. Very often a dome port has a lesser depth rating than the housing to which it is attached. An example would be the Subal housings which are rated to 100m, however the FE2 dome port is only rated to 60m.

Having said that, the figures are largely academic as most of the housings can safely be used well in excess of their depth ratings. The ratings are there to cover the manufacturer and can be exceeded if you are willing to assume the risk yourself.

Regards
Jean.
