Re: 147m on Pelagian

Is it the done thing to hijack your own thread? If so, here goes

Went to Chepstow over the weekend to try out some new lights (dual 150w HID's) attached to my Pelagian and generally get frozen. Air temp was 1'c and the water was 8'c at the surface going down to 6'c by 65m...so fairly chilly but the visibility was excellent with 20metres plus to be had even in the shallows.

The lighting from above approach didnt really do to well unless the water was crystal clear so its back to the drawing board for that one. Im gonna try and video a deep wreck soon and the hands free approach seemed ideal but I will simply put the camera on my head me thinks and have a rod with the lighting held a metre or so apart and use it when necessary. I ve put some pics of just how cold it was what with icicles on someones discarded pee-valve and a nice pic of the quarry complete with cloud base...brrrr

Ho Ho Ho

Re: 147m on Pelagian

mark,

if thats the way your going to shoot video why not one of those pipe inspection camera rigs that have the lights inside the head next to the camera lens?

probably easier to mount on your helmet/hood too.

Re: 147m on Pelagian

Yep, ize a fully paid up card carrying and butt tattoed DIR guru ITTTT for sure! wtf? are you joking? drunk ? Being called DIR is farting talk where im from!

The lights are from Greenforce... each 150watt HID with focusable heads.

I had a 1 CCD head cam but it was fixed focus and went b&w in low light all the time...it was convenient but ive just got the mini HD camera that seems to work great...just the lighting position thats the issue.

Will have a look at the pole/pipe camera link...thanks
