The faster, easier the validation and the less dil it uses - the more sense it makes..hmmm I feel a mod coming on. Of course this would only work easily on a mCCR. I think it would also work on an MK or a Prism with the electronics turned off, which is how I was taught to dil flush. I like the Pelagian quick cell validation too, I wonder if it's possible to mod the Prism the same way... |

I just felt there was some humor emerging in this long debate!I built the BOB for one purpose (To do the deep cave Sra Keow - we had planned on max depth 280m) so was aware that flushing at depth to validate cells would quickly kill off my dil supply. It was a relaively untested bit of kit* I was using an unfamilar ppo2 display and an unfamilar (untested) VR3 display so wanted the option to validate at depth at intervals (assuming Id bailed to it) if displays started to show variance or not (10 hours is a long time to be breathing the wrong ppo2). On the RAT I am using familar componenst and well tested (plus not taking it to 280m) so just thought Id make do with normal dil flush method. I think your idea makes good sense- I like the idea of using a tiny amount of dil to do a very quick validation with the press of a button. The faster, easier the validation and the less dil it uses - the more sense it makes..hmmm I feel a mod coming on. Of course this would only work easily on a mCCR - but I do like it. did we stop being friends? * Which is why I had full OC bail out as well . Andy |

Im an engineer - we dont do humour Andy ![]() btw Thanks for your offer of help with the Swagelok stuff. Did you see the combined needle valve/manual inject valve I ended up making?. MMMMmmm...shinny ![]() Has ports to allow off board O2 and/or Dil to be plugged into the manual add at same time

Mike, how easy was it to turn off the unused parts (the T actually) from the needle valve? I wanted to build something similar a year ago but was affraid I'd wreck the valve cutting off the T.Thanks Steven |

Thats not what I did - I machined the holes in the block and screwed in the needle part (in other words the T and needle hole is in the block)Thanks Steven

Can you just remove the bottom part from the needle valve or do you need to cut it off in a lathe? Thanks Steven |

The swagelok needle valve comes in 2 parts. Thanks Steven the top part circled in yellow is unscrewed from the bottom T piece part. The top part contains the needle (the bottom T piece contains the needle hole and the outlet hole. I then reproduce the needle hole and outlet hole into the chrome plated brass block and screw in the top (needle) piece

How did you solve the channels inside the block? It looks like you just drilled a hole from short to short side. have you noticed any different CV charachteristis compared to the SL body? I sure looks tidier than my solution. Hats off for Dr Mike! Andy Im an engineer - we dont do humour ![]() btw Thanks for your offer of help with the Swagelok stuff.
