I take it that it will connect straight to the cells as all the circuitry is in the displays? the only problem I can envisage is where to put the battery, I thought at first it was in the handset but after a closer look I think that is it in the inspo head on those pictures(?)

Shearwater has the battery in its handset. And a 9V battery in the lid (sealed) for the solenoid. The Sartek has batteries in the its handset. The O2 cells are shared via Y-connection in the lid.

I already have a Shearwater, and was hoping to use the SubSea displays from Jason McHatton, but after buying them found out that they were not compatible. so the Battery in the Inspo head is for the solenoid? what battery does the Sartek use?Shearwater has the battery in its handset. Read Jason's post the other day, it sounded like you couldn't plug one into the other. Maybe a Y-split at the cells like Phi has done works. Just a thought (from someone not very electronically inclined).

Just a thought (from someone not very electronically inclined). Jasons isolation circuitry was incompatible with the Shearwater, or the other way around(?) depends how you look at it. The effect was to halve the mV input to the GF. The circuitry is in the Subsea kidney and it was doubled up due to the same resistors in the GF (Im not an expert, this is what I understand) There is nothing wrong with the Subsea or the GF, they are both great bits of kit it is just that the designs are not compatible but both Jason and Bruce may be working on a remedy.

![]() | Re: triple display It is just the isolation circuitry that is in the Kidney, will work without it but it will not have the protection if something else connected screws up. Jason will let you know more, dont take my limited knowledge as gospel.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: triple display Yep, my kidney has isolation circuitry built in, so if a display or VR3 has a fault or its cable is shorted, the other display will not be affected. The DS-1 display can also work without this circuitry. Unfortunately this circuitry is incompatible with the Shearwater input circuitry. You could use a Y split straight off the sensors to use them both (or any two devices), but if there is a cable short or device fault, it will take out the signal to the other device as well. You don't gain redundancy by connecting two devices with a Y split. Merry Christmas to all!! Jason. Subsea Systems - Rebreather Solutions |
