My membrane came fitted with the unit so I'm not sure if they put any sealant in, I don't think so though as it was an early membrane and sealant is a new idea apparently.I had 2 loop floods last week. One was a total flood with scrubber full of water. The membrane stopped the cocktail. Ian |

| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Boris floods I have had 2 floods on my unit (No 44) sinceI got it 11 months ago, 1 without membraine and 1 with membraine. I am not an experienced CCR or technical diver and so I have put this down to my own learning curve. I have since done quite a few dives, my longest is 180mins and have not had problems for a while. I think my problems were down to poor neg's due to the OP having crap on the valve. In answer to the cocktail, I did get a cocktail on both occasions but it felt much milder with the membraine in. In speaking to Jason he told me to drink Coca-Cola after a mouth of cocktail as it nutralises the acid and I have to say it works a treat ![]() Hope this helps L |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Boris floods I have never actually done it, but have thought about it a lot when I was diving the MK-15... I believe you should be able to do the same on the MK-15 if the water is accumulated in the CL. Then the OPV could be pressurized to act as a dump valve as long as the diver stays horizontal. Like I said, I have never done it so could be wrong... not the same as the opv on mk15 as you know is on the inhale side. the exhale side (before scrubber and exhale hose) on mk15 cant be flushed clear of much more than the absobtion ability of the foam so its not so recoverable (one of the downsides of the design)

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Boris floods Given that the OPV seems to be giving many a great deal of gip maybe it would be an idea to at least cut a hole in the box (behind the back plate) so you can get at the OPV without having to go through the pain of undoing the hoses and pulling the whole scrubber base out just to check. Easy access would mean a diver can visually inspect the OPV for crud each dive. F |

Easy access would mean a diver can visually inspect the OPV for crud each dive. On my boris there is such a hole - there are no hoses to undo. To check the OPV I undo the nuts on the backplate, lift the harness and backplate up and I can check it from there and rebuild it if necessary through the hole in the back of the unit without having to break the loop or scrubber. F Hope that helps Rich |

![]() | Re: Boris floods It does, I never checked ...... In all honesty I think it was Dr Mike's trick on the Boris forum so I can't really claim to be that clever. ![]() They don't tell you this trick in the manual which does suggest breaking the loop, removing the scrubber, etc to get to it... |
