Question Armadillo on Boris?

Has anyone tried using the Armadillo sidemount rig on boris? I am considering getting one but would like some feedback on how it affects the ability to close the ADV/Solenoid shutoffs.

It doesn't.

The harness sits flat against your arse so in itself has no effect on reaching the valves. You have to reach around the tanks a bit but its not hard.

You will love it.

[note how much lower the new boris doughnut wing fits the unit] will be testing it this weekend]

Re: Armadillo on Boris?

That looks interesting. I've had a look at their website and it looks like the one in their picture is a wing and harness combined. The one in Mikes picture looks different ie the wing is presumably the new one CCR Ltd are offering at the moment with a harness beneath it. Can you clarify please as I can't make it out. Ta

These are two different products we offer:
There is an Armadillo Sidemount Exporation Harness - fullfledged, streamlined kit for sidemount diving. Some mounted their CCRs on it, but it has a soft back so might not be ideal.
Link -> Golem Gear, Inc. - Armadillo Sidemount Exporation Harness

Then we have an ArmadilloCCR - a buttplate/tank atachment kit dedicated to CCR diving. It is attached to an existing backplate or harness:
Link -> ArmadilloCCR sidemount kit

This is what is in DrMikes picture.

Re: Armadillo on Boris?

I was going to buy one today until I saw that the postage was way more than the Armadillo, with the uncertainty over import duty too it becomes too expensive.

Ian if you have a wing/ harness now that you like but your goal is to carry your off board gas side mount there are other options. Dive rite makes a side mount kit, butt plate & neck bungee system, that you could adapt to your rig. Or if you have some extra harness webbing, some D-rings, grommits, bungee & rivets or bolts you can make a side mount kit for your rig in a couple hours including a beer break. It will not be as pretty as the store bought stuff but it will work & will cost peanuts.

Ian,

We are redoing the site and our postage calculator is on the fritz (should be fixed this weekend). It costs less that $30 to send ArmadilloCCR to GB.
I sent you a PM to arrange for shipping.
