solenoid bulkhead fitting

I might put together a spreadsheet of dives lost due to failure - the last one (soleniod bulkhead fitting fell out) robbed me of my only dive in North West france, where we only had one dive to date due to the weather and I was support on that! So I was mightily pissed off. Also the ADV is still free flowing, but only in the water, not on a dive - though thats fixable by
switching the slider of, it's still an arse.

Anyone else had these problems?

Me:
  • Hand set flood (New Pod required)
  • HUD flood
  • Locking ring that wouldn't unlock (need to be machined 5mm)
  • Now needs new fatter O ring for dome (normal O ring fails neg test every time)

Re: solenoid bulkhead fitting

Martin,

I have had more than my fair share of problems with my Boris.

However, I am impressed by the support from CCRB, which is second-to-none and non judgemental.

All of my issues have been dealt with expeditiously and helpfully.

I have lost quite a few dives, due to various issues but remain philosphical about the unit.

It is one of the very best units out there and an absolute pleasure to dive, I look at the lost dives as the price I must pay to enjoy the others.

Sometimes it is very very frustrating, but it is the support from the manufacturer and the pleasure the unit gives me, that makes me persist.

Cheers,

Dave.

Re: solenoid bulkhead fitting

Dear Martin
Do you have any pics of the bulk head? I would like to see them if you do. Did it come apart buy the pod or underneath where the piping connects to it. I also have to agree with Dave, the Boris people are second to NONE! In my opinion their product is going through growing pains but......... they back everything they sell and build. I feel the kit is one of the best and I love diving it. Lets face it .....all rebreathers have good and bad points. I hope for you that your happy and I wish the best for you and your kit. good luck
Cheers Frankie

Re: solenoid bulkhead fitting

All fixed. Apparently they may modigy the design to stop it happening again.
