Wozplate on a Boris

Well I've just fitted a 5mm WozPlate onto a Boris and you know what? It looks like it grew there. Stuck a couple of WozKnobs on it too and it looks the part. The deep V and steeper bend angle of the Wozplate lets the handset and manual injector hoses past just nicely. I'm grinding a lovely big radius on the plate too so they won't chafe.

Re: Wozplate on a Boris

How much does your plate weigh?

The standard Boris backplate actually weighs more than most normal backplates, once you take into account the handle bolts anfd other paraphernalia.

Any photos?

Cheers,

Dave Cooper.

No photos yet- we just had a play this morning and anyway my camera is currently up on blocks being repaired.

The 5mm Wozplate weighs in at 4kg (about 9lb in old money).

What are the benefits of the Wozplate over the standard?

Mine comes in at 3.5 Kg, which is more than my Meg SS BP, my custom Inspo SS BP and my OC BP, maybe there are different BPs per Boris series, having said that yours and mine come from the same series.....

Ive swapped the joke of a custom divers harness (which was more like some S&M outfit with all its metal rings) for a normal harness which may have cut the weight a little.

Im curious as to why people would swap the original plate. The Wozplate is 4kg so its heavier than the original - is that the reason? To remove weight from the weightbelt? Or is there an advantage Im missing?

As I travel a lot with my unit I want the lightest plate I can get.

I believe OMS make an all titanium one. Light for travelling, strong enough to prise off a porthole with, and so valuable as to be useable for a ransom downpayment if you are kidnapped.

PS did you know that Manta make a titanium crowbar that only weighs 700g?
