Frankie,

Do you actually take the mesh grid out and replace it with the membrane? Or do you still keep the grid and put the membrane in front. Does the membrane fits in the grove with the grid ? Close-up pictures would be nice when you get a chance.

Cheers,

PS: What you are going to do for your HUD Led

Re: hidrofobic menbrane

Hey Phil
I took the screen out and put the hydrophobic membrane in. It fit right into the groove. I wish I could send pics...... but I don't have a digital camera. Sorry......Beleive me it was very easy. I spoke to Kevin about the blue light and I think I'm going to stand fast and wait until he has VPM tables and the color hand set upgrade, and then I'll send it back and get every thing done. The Northeast dive season just began and I really don't want to part with my kit. I don't have the fifty hours yet and I want my tri-mix code yesterday. It sucks that the light is DOA ......but I can live with it.
Cheers Frankie

P.S. Kevin said that he might make a wet connect HUD so you don't have to send the hole pod back.

That would be a plus, I believe the color and VPM will be ready at the end of May, I am also waiting for this before sending it in. I might get the membrane at the same time!

Cheers,

I only have one dive with the membrane and I couldn't tell any difference in WOB. The Material is about 1/8 inch thick and is rigid. The installation was easy with a 7mm socket. It isn't like a Inspiration scrim. I was told that it is the same hydrophobic membrane that is used on the US Navy mark 16. which means it's a proven material. Cheers Frankie
To claim same as Mk16 is an interesting but misleading statement.
At a price of £300.00 sterling pure gold by weight is cheaper.

The enclosed picture shows a MK16 canister of proven material with for
contrast a smaller disposable pad used in a SCUBA air compressor filter.
The former costs £30 while the latter £3. Go figure. Iain Middlebrook.

Re: hidrofobic menbrane

Having enjoyed a rather horrible caustic mouth wash at 105m on Boris last week I too will be getting one.

Mike,

How is the Boris coming along ?

Also, did you get to test the V4TEC BOV at depth ?

That looks like the same pads that was also used on the UT-240..

I have used it on my inspiration and it did cut down alot of moisture in the head on the dives I used it....
I cant remember where I got them from, but I got 4 7" or 8" disks for about $25 a few years back..
