The 'calibration factor', on the passive, is highly complicated and would take hours to explain! Alternatively you do your cailbration on the primary see the the PO2 readings and then compare them to the passive, you then adjust the passive to the primary. You can check the cell MV reading on the passive too but its very much a manaul flight option if your HUD and hand set go bye byes.

F
P.S. All ahndsets are reading off the same three cells, so by the primary adjusting during calibration so does the passive.
Err I dont know anything about the boris but how doeas the electronic calibration of the primary set the passive cal? Its not the cells that get calibrated its the output reading. because all cells have a slightly different mv output cal is needed to bring them all into line and tell the computer that 50mv = 1bar (example)

A trim pot is just a mechanical way of doing what the computer does electronically

Re: Boris course with Phil at Stoney

I should have known better than to open my mouth!!

What I was trying to say was, you calibrate your primary as you would say the Vision and then as an added support you take each value (knowning that you have not changed the ambient pressure nor cells) and set that value against the equal and opposite display on the other handset. The passive readings are dumb, they are not involved in any computed control of set point.

I must point out that they are no different from say your KISS handset, so you are welcome to calibrate on air on the day before but might I suggest you readings could be slightly different with your primary during your dive.

The idea is to give you another opportunity at looking at your PO2.

Re: Boris course with Phil at Stoney

Phi, unlike the MK15 the secondary cal pots are 'exposed' not under a sealed plug so the manual cal of the passive is 'easier' than on a MK15 thats what I meant. Complete the primary electronic cal then manual adjust pots to match

Re: Boris course with Phil at Stoney

After my course went straight to Red sea for 5 days on Boris.

Did some 80m+ dives and a few 100m ones.

observations so far;

1. Despite what I was told Boris does NOT weigh 32kg in its box...you have to take the backplate off if you want to fly it from uk (on the floor infront of check out )
2. Hydrophobic membrane is a MUST unless you like caustic mouthwash
3. Be careful some badly fitted scrubber fins dont fall out when emptying fill
4. No auto setpoint switch makes it easy to forget to er increase and get more deco
5. Swims fine even on 3hour cont. swims with 2x12L stages and a camera
6. Easy to work on
7. Wet switch auto start gets annoying when cleaning or moving kit
8. With the little 2L tanks its easy to um er run out of O2 on big dives....
9. I love the electronics, the info you can see on the vr3 pages is really usefull.
10. Smooth internal bore hoses have significantly less gurgling and easier to clear than usual type

Dry. Without the plate it was 31.4kg IIRC the plate/harness was around 4kg
