Hi Rodge,

There is no need for the seahorse effect to occur with correct weighting, the pgotos on the homepage at CCRB are of students on a course and as we all know, trim gets better dive after dive.

I find the Boris easier to swim than an Inspiration in fact.

Cheers,

Dave Cooper.

I recently finished my Ouroborus course and tried hard not to compare negatively one unit against another. I find the Ouroborus breathes differently to the Inspiration, not better nor worse, just differently. The Ouroborus swims differently to the Inspiration, not better nor worse, just differently.

The Ouroborus feels heavier in the water but that just means I need no weight belt, I will have to keep a kilo or 2 on the top but having dived the Inpsiration for a while I had to use top weight on that too.

All in all a lovely piece of kit. Is it better than the Inspration probably yes but both are top tier units.

Very interesting Fil, I also crossed over from the YBOD to Boris but I found Boris to be much better in the water, the unit feels much more comfortable. Whilst the unit is heavier it feels better even on dry land as the weight is higher up on my back, definately an improvement. In the water I find that boris feels a lot lighter than my YBOD did.

Congratulations, in my point of view you did the best choice between the units actually on the market.... The unit really impressed me but with the tag price I still just dreaming ....
Can you give us some more details Mikedive on these points. What is making this CCR the best choice for you? What was so impressive in this tool compare to the rest of the CCR indroduced in the market so far.

Iani

You are probably right I just want to dive the machine a little more before passing judgement. 10 hours is definatly not enough to get a real feel.

For me it's a bit like getting a new girlfriend yes the new one's got better t*ts but there is no need to say that the ex was a bad lay .

I am very glad to have my new (but scuffed) Boris and will eventually let my Inspo go but only when I have the 50 hours and Tx softwware available.

Hi all you Boris divers
I just wonder if that very long breathing hose (full of air) doesnt make the Boris unecessary top boyant? Do anyone know why they build it with the long hoses? By the look of pictures it seems to be almost half a meter to long for my liking......They seem to stick way out from the preferred streamlined position....someone told me that you dont feel it when you dive but what about in a narrow cave or in a wreck?
Just curious
Best regards

Re: Just ordered a Boris :D

Personally I think the Boris is a stunning unit in terms of design and function. Unfortunately its even worse to travel with than the YBOD so it will never make my Christmas list.

My new travel frame is making transportation of the YBOD much easier so i am less inclined to get the meg at the moment but I must say in standard trim the Meg still wins for me as the best all round unit.

The large/smooth bore hoses assist in reducing the size of the counter lungs (counterlungs are only 4.5 litre combined (me thinks)) whilst maintaining a very low WOB. They are steel reinforced hoses that are far heavier than the rubber hosing us see on 90% of rebreathers so you don't need counter weights and despite being long and large you just don't notice the loop as there are no counterlungs in front of you nor T pieces rubbing your ears.

I better shut up as I am starting to sound like I know what I am talking about....
