Ouroboros - An Entry Level Rebreather?

Has anyone on this list done the Ouroboros training with Phil Short without having dived on a rebreather before? I.e. switched directly from OC to CCR via the Ouroboros.

I'm currently exchanging e-mails with Phil which started as asking about his Inspiration training course but (as he becomes less like a cave diver and more like a used car salesman

) he's trying to convince me that the Ouro' is a viable alternative.

I'm especially interested in how the ex bubble blowers found the course and the type of diving they are planning once they've built up experience on the unit.

There are Boris articles including a course review in the Rebreatherworld library.

NAD and and CCScuba on here have both done the course and also Dave Cooper's (Decodiver) crossover from the Meg. Iani has gone from Inspo to Boris also.

Although they've not gone straight from OC to the Boris they are worth speaking to regarding their experiences.

Phil is also Inspiration Instructor and user, (probably ex-user

Between YBOD (Vision or Evo) and Boris the technology is different but the concept is almost the same (also between others CCR like Meg). That's why I don't see many problem to go direct to an Ouroboros from OC.
They all could kill you if you become complacent with them! Maybe with Boris it a little bit better because of more controls and checks but don't count on them.

Just my idea...

The only difference is the price, you can find used YBOD (classic) for good prices, but it doesn't change the concept too much.

Maybe it is not his preferred CCR but he's still on the Instructor list of APValve, IANTD HQ and IANTD UK for Inspiration...
