You might want to look at this thread.

While it's not specfic about the Ourboros it should get you thinking about general cold water Rebreather diving.

I dove it below 3° (not really what you're looking for) and never had any issue.

Re: Ouroboros. Cold? problems?

If there are problems in cold water then with the cells or batterys

Thats a problem of every CCR not only of Boris

You shouldn´t leave the kit in the car overnight at -10 °c

I'm not aware of any problem that the factory can't solve. Personally the only problems for me were a pinched CL (my fault) and a dead LED.
Could give more details?

Nad

Me either. We have 2 of them (matching his and hers rebreathers!). CCRB are very helpful if you ever have any questions. Only issue we had was a failed pressure transducer which is simple component failure from the original supply. Replaced FOC regardless.

Amongst other things I teach ice diving and would have no hesitation in taking a Boris under ice. Make sure you do a proper prebreathe and be careful of the batteries because they'll not last as long in the cold.

Thumbs up Re: Ouroboros. Cold? problems?

Erik,
I am approaching 100 hours on my Boros (#70) and it has been, to date, flawless. The CL OPV was replaced when issued by CCR but mine did not leak before. I have yet to install the Dome Kit as it too has not been a problem after replacing the original o-ring. (Don't store the unit with the dome o-ring in place.) We routinely dive in water temps ranging from 34-42 F without issue. Recently I spent 2 weeks filming wrecks at average depths from 250'-310' and the Boros performed great; especially a low WOB at depth with bulky video gear. If you choose to purchase I would recommend adding the gas off-boards; you will use a scarily minimum amount of gas when driving the unit from a bottom stage! For remote dive sites gas filling will also be much easier. The only item that I don't like is the VR's deco algorithm (it's very conservative.) However, you simply tell the wrist unit to "Use Table" and carry on. Kevin & the staff at CCR has been outstanding and quickly responded to my questions and comments.
