Anyone dive the Golem Gear BOV??

I am trying to decide on a Rebreather, but if I go with Boris would a Golem Gear BOV be a worthwhile purchase?

I am not sure if anyone is using a Golem BOV on a Boris or not but there are lots and lots of very happy Golem BOV users on this list. You should be able to find some threads discussing the topic via the archive search.

I use a Golem BOV on my Optima. Can't say about a Boros.

The GG BOV is a fantastic purchase. Not sure if it will work on a Boris, you would need to check the internal hose diameter. (The Boris has a clamped DSV right??)

Before you do that, the new Sentinel from Kevin Gurr has a nice new BOV with a bail out reg attached. Take a look at it at DEMA

The Trapezoid threaded BOV fits the Boris hoses. Unclamp the existing DSV and clamp in the nipples with nuts of our BOV. The added advantage is that you can remove the BOV from the loop for better cleaning and hose drying.
Both of these wil work:
Rebreather BOV - DSV/OC - Threaded
or
Golem Gear, Inc. - Rebreather BOV - Vario - Threaded

Howard,

how is the GG BOV on the O2ptima ? What length hose are you using ? How do you route the hose and keep it close to the loop hoses ?

Do you have any photo with it on by any chance ?

like Mark Nix said there are a lot of happy Golem Gear BOV owners but I won't put one on a Boris.

Let's be clear It's a great product! but not for the Boris

If you look at the Boris DSV and The Golem Gear BOV you'll notice there is a HUGE difference in the one way check valve sizes. Boris's one way valves are A LOT bigger.

Last year I spoke to CCR about adding this to my Boris and Kevin explained it would work BUT....your work of breathing would go up! He did a lot of testing on his kit for work of breathing. He built the DSV with check valves of this size for a reason. This is one of those mods I wouldn't make to a Boris.

But i note his new CCR has a BOV.

This is a good point thow. The addition of a BOV to my old Classic reduced the size of the mushroom valves. I didn't notice much difference but i am sure there was some.

As for the Golum.

Its a well made bit of kit and the support is excellent. I had a minor problem with my one and they sent me out an upgraded spring FOC which seems to have sorted out the problem.

This sort of quality customer support goes a long way with me so i am very happy to recommend them as a result.
