Ouroboros: the factory is still up and running!!!Ouroboros: for the choice of the materials (CisLunar did use some different material for the same block and this cause problems). Ouroboros: for the electronic of the last years Cis Lunar was a great machine years ago and if the company didn't close, still now.

Cis Lunar Mark 5P Just have someone kick you in the nuts instead of buying either Between the two, I'd personally go with the Boris...that is unless I were Rich Pyle and knew how to rebuild and reprogram a Cis from scratch. I've always wanted to change out my scrubber underwater ![]()

![]() | Re: Ouroboros VS. Cis Lunar Mark 5P Boros for all of the reasons above plus... Another Ouroboros dive buddy (myself) in TN!?! My current Boros dive buddy just became instructor & service tech. Boros training available locally in March, 2008. If you're serious about an Ouroboros, stop by for a tour of the unit. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: CIS LUNAR Mark 5P VS. Ouroboros pretty simple IMO- given that the 5P is not in production, I'd go with the Boris since its serviceable and readily available. The 5P was a masterpiece in its day, but keep in mind that this was some 10 years ago, and its innovations have since found the way into a number of the current units, and at a fraction of the cost.

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: CIS LUNAR Mark 5P VS. Ouroboros Jeurgenson Marine Services the units. There must stilll be something about them considering any major National Geographic expeditions have used CIS LUNAR CCR's. Also for maintence and service the M5P will only require shipping to PA, while any work done on the Boris willl result in shipment to England. Kevin Gurr also based the Ouroboros' design on the CIS LUNAR Mark 5p. There's my argument. Please respond. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: CIS LUNAR Mark 5P VS. Ouroboros ok, yes Kev J does service the units, but good luck trying to find replacement parts should anything major go down, and of course there is no warrantee. the arguement about Natl geo holds no merit. as it happens, many of the folks who find there way onto Natl Geo, were among the first Cis, and consequently first mainstream CCR divers. Much of the footage you see was taken several years ago before the boom of the other units. I know several of them personally and they are now almost all using Megs. You'll see the Cousteau folks using Inspirations, BBC folk using Boris or Inspirations, Hollywood using Megs....times are changing
