Battery-change caused Boris to reset...

Hi folks...

I want to hear if anyone had expirienced the same as I did last weekend?!

I was doing a dive, and got at LOW BAT alarm, and therefore I changed the batteries right away. (Yes... I did get out of the water first... )

I got some new batteries ready, and did the exchange. I had some problems getting the union to fit correctly, and because of that, the Boris switched on and off a couple of times. All in all it took about 5 minuttes, and the power wasn't of for more than 1-2 minuttes at the longest time.

Well, finally got it assembled again, and then I was a big questionmark.

Do factory service in 200 hours
Dive hours 0
On hours 0

And it has "forgot" the trimix pin-code...

So it has been set to "factory defaults" apparently , but why?!

Anyone?

Re: Battery-change caused Boris to reset...

For various reasons I have been opening closing the Pod a lot in recent months and have not had this experience only the usual one that if the batteries are out for too long then it wipes the dive memory and forgets the date/time. I'd have liked there to have been some sort of energy storage to keep this info but...

I'm sure you are very careful but is there any chance you may have inadvertently shorted something (with water)?

Hi Ant...

Yes, there is a chance of that... That sounds like a plausible cause... Thanks...

Re: Battery-change caused Boris to reset...

It did happen once to me, I was putting the cover back-on and trying to screw the ring. Did not manage to do it correctly the first time so cover was on and off few times. That seems to have caused some kind of hard reset. Since then I make sure I have everything ready so that I can apply the right pressure on the cover to easily fit the ring!

What version of software do you have?

Battery-change caused Boris to reset...

Happened to a friend of mine, bit of a pain I hear as the Trimix PIN was in Portugal and he was in Italy doing some deep water dives.

Look on the bright side, if you ever want to sell your unit you can always suggest that the machine has very low milage .
