Stress Fractures

Has anyone seen/found 2 stress fractures on the lower section of the case?

Fractures are equal and opposite i.e. 1 on each side. Attached photo doesn't do them justice, theyare deep and growing. What's best way to stop the creep, some sort of resin?

Re: Stress Fractures

Hey Fil
I have to agree with Jerome. I dropped my kit and fractured the case by the counter lung holes. I applied a high strength clear epoxy. It worked perfect.
Cheers Frankie

Re: Stress Fractures

i had a unit here for a wile to work on it had loads of cracks and creeps in the case. in my opinion the resin used was way to inflexible for the use it was intended for it was far to easy to stress and crack rather than flex and give.....what's the point of having a carbon case if it's light but falls to bits after 5 dives?

Looks like an aftermarket case is needed. I wonder who will fill the void?

Well good point there.... i was under the impression that the case was built to be bulletproof and handle all kinds of abuse but i see i was wrong

Carbon is of course, over engineering for a rebreather case. We had been manufacturing composites for a long time and can say that carbon can be the strongest material if it is in the right shape with the right manufacturing process. Perhaps it might have been better if it was made differently but in the end, its just bling.

So when is Delta-P going to launch their copy of your 4th cell holder John? I looked through their stuff, just the old shitty one. It probably would have been respectful to ask you for manuafacturing costs first before walking all over it. Wonder if he does a better job of approximating someone elses work better than the VPN stuff.
