![]() ![]() | Passed Negative-test and still flooded... Hi... I vent for a dive yesterday, after doing a service of my OPV in the counterlungs... I did all the predive checks as discribed, and it passed... Under the dive I heard this gurgeling sound when I exhale. So I thourgth, maybe it's just a tiny amount of water, like if I didn't empty the mouthpiece correct. During the dive (~40 min @ 12-13 meters) I didn't have any problems... But when I got home and took the unit apart, it became clear that there wasa problem... It was flooded... Half of the scrubber was soaked, so there were some cleaning to do... After cleaning and reasembling I preformed a negative test, and like before the dive, no problems... But as I tried to do a kind of positive test, it turned that there was a problem with the OPV. I didn't resist very much pressure, and therefore (I was told by another Boris-diver) the water can enter the lung during a dive... So the big question is... Does you Boris-divers outthere do a kind of positive test on your units?! I am well aware, that you can't do a real positive test, without blocking out the OPV.... Cheers Bo Urskov |

Been there, several times Sounds like some 'lime in the OPV, it probably worked fine for your negative but during the dive a granule or two of lime got stuck in the OPV and water gets in. The OPV is very unforgiving of anything coming into contact with it, cleanliness is the key here.Ian |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Passed Negative-test and still flooded... Hey Bourskov I posted a old thread about a filter for the OPV with pictures. Read this post!!! There are some negative points to making this modification ....but the benefits to installing this filter out way any of the negatives. In the past I also had water in my canister and failed negative tests. I have about 75+ dives with this filter and it is a perfect solution. It really works!!! I might have a extra filter.....If I can find it would you like me to mail it to you? Good luck Cheers Frankie ![]() |

![]() ![]() | Re: Passed Negative-test and still flooded... Ian: I found that it wasn't some lime, but some Aquasure, from the sealing... I must not have cleaned it proberly after sealing it a few days ago.... Frankie: That looks great... I think I'll do this... My Boris-buddy had a flood because of sofnolime in the OPV during his course, so he might like it to Bo Urskov |

![]() | Re: Passed Negative-test and still flooded... I may have had a similar problem. Unit flooded every dive but passed negative tests including when it was absolutely full of water. It would not hold any sort of positive test. It went back to the factory and they discovered that the spring in the OPV was fatiguing. I believe they then sent replacement springs to all users. |

![]() | Re: Passed Negative-test and still flooded... My problems got worse as last sumer progressedand the unit became undivable in late september (a very frustrating week in France!). The factory had the unit from then for about 8 weeks in total having tried various fixes to eradicate the problem before the spring was isolated. |

G4SSG I spoke to Kevin about this a year ago and he would have to do a whole new EXPENSIVE CE test again. I think he should have made a better choice for the OPV….But the few modifications that he released seemed to work for me. I also LOVE the filter I put on my counter lung. If some one did change their OPV please post pics and how they like it. Cheers Frankie |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Passed Negative-test and still flooded... G4SSG Attached how the valve looks installed with a 22Mesh SS sieve insert. The mesh material opening is a around 1.0mm I looked at 24 mesh 0.9mm material but the net opening area is getting too small......I think he should have made a better choice for the OPV….But the few modifications that he released seemed to work for me. I also LOVE the filter I put on my counter lung. If some one did change their OPV please post pics and how they like it. Cheers Frankie I will see how good it will hold. I added a small groove so the mesh will hold a bit better inside the funnel. It was a bit tricky to cut the mesh material a piece of tape helped cutting and forming the mesh insert. http://www.rebreatherworld.com/image...es/biggrin.gif .Greetings Andreas DSC04362sc.jpg Last edited by aknelson : 12th September 2007 at 04:25. |
