Boris Scrubber.

Hi Rebreather World.

Im having some difficulties with 3 radialscrubbers for the ouroboros Rebreather.

The wings inside the scrubber seems to be falling out of place, from time to time.

Has anyone else experienced that problem and what have you done to prevent it from happening?

personally im thinking about superfast glue the wings to the bottom of the scrubber...

regards Allan

Re: Boris Scrubber.

I'd call the factory, doesn't sound right to me. I've owned 2 units and haven't had this problem with either, I think DrMike may have had this one though.

Unhappy Re: Boris Scrubber.

Hi Iani.

Actually one of the scrubbers was swapped with a brand new one but the same problem ocurred, not much more than 1½ month old..

It seems that the scrubber design for the wings inside only leaves place in the lower part, in the top of the scrubber i cant see anything that will hold the wings in place, imho a strange design, but i wouldnt know if it serves some kind of strange purpose..??

regards

/Allan

There is some kind of sealant that the factory now use on hydrophobic membranes, I'd imagine you could use that to hold the wings in. I don't know what it is though as I have an early membrane that doesn't have the sealant. Calling the factory would seem the best way forward.

Re: Boris Scrubber.

hi
take a look at the 8mm recessed nyloc nuts on the inner & outer part of the scrubber , are they slack..the factory will have a set torque for these ,tighten them too much & the delrin deforms.........martyn

Re: Boris Scrubber.

I had this, send them back to the factory and Jason will solve the problem for you.

As a tip, when emptying the scrubber, do not turn it upside down and tap hard on the base, you will dislodge the vanes.

Cheers,

Dave Cooper.

Re: Boris Scrubber.

Every now and then one falls out. If the nuts are overtight this seams to happen more often but even after factory 'setting' they still fell out.

This has been my experinece anyway - If theres a 'fix' Id like to know what it is. It only takes 5 mins to fit them back. Im just careful to check them when filling and dont bash the crap out of the scrubber when emptying it

Cheers

My experience also with 2 Boris' is that the vanes sometimes fall out. Similarly if there is a fix I'd love to know what it is.

As Dave said, usually if you invert and tap the scrubber is when they go (BTW don't ever do this over the side of the boat just to get the last few grains out - I speak from experience ). It's a very simple job to refit them though so it doesn't concern me too much.

Re: Boris Scrubber.

No real issue for me. I would not like to glue them since I like to take my scrubber apart for a good clean!

Cheers,
