Problem with exhaust valve on a Boris

Hello...

Today while doing predive checks, my unit failed the negative test, due to a contaminated exhaust valve.
So I took it apart for cleaning, but apparently the last time I did it, I must have tightened it to much, because it didn't come apart where it should. It was the union nut inside the counterlung, that came off.

At first, I thought it wasn't that big a problem, because I took the valve apart and got it clean and nice again.

So now the reasembling... There was some kind of sealant at the threading?! Does anyone know what kind of sealant it is?!

I tried to put it together just as it is, and the unit passes the negative test perfectly. (I havn't been in the water yet!)

I wonder if it is sealant or just some kind of glue to prevent the union nut inside to loosen?!

Anyone who knows?

Best regards

Re: Problem with exhaust valve on a Boris

I am not sure about this but seem to remember either Phil Sudan or Dr Mike saying it was Aquasure?

However my caveat is that I am probably suffering from a 13 hour flight back from KL......

My advice, don't dive it, call the factory tomorrow and don't forget to let us know what they say.

Cheers,

Dave Cooper.

Re: Problem with exhaust valve on a Boris

Hi,
I have used aquasure to seal it but its important to clean very well the counterlung's surface and the plastic parts of OPV with a good cleaner.

Another problem that I have found during the severe negative test its that the membrhane overintroflex (because it hasn't any support in his center)
and doesn't do the right seal in the border!
I have chenged it with a more fat membrhane and now works well!

I have informed Alan about this problem and he has told me that Jason and Kev are informed about that.

Sorry for my very bad english!
Take care
Mario

Hi Dave...

I've found an internetshop where I can buy it, and is cheap also... So now I just have to wait until the postman is here...
