Re: Taking Boris Apart

Dear Ant
I've taken my pod out three times. I'm sure your a little scared about putting it back together...But don't be! Just look at your pictures and you'll get it done. You really get in good communion with your kit by doing this, and it makes you more self sufficient in the future. If you have to tare it apart in some far away place you'll have the confidence of doing it once. My Blue LED light burnt out twice ...so I hope Nick can figure out why??? Good luck and if you have any questions just call me. I'll gladly tell you any little tricks I know.
Here's a few bits of advise

When you pressure test it I recommend to place it under water so you can see the smallest leak.

Use the correct size wrenches, your kit has meteric and standard size.
the swage-lock crush fittings are 7/16 inch
H.P. whips are 18mm

Best of luck, any questions just call (917)589 4705 (USA Cell number)
Cheers Frankie

Hysterical !

It's apart now and I'm in the process of boxing it up to send it off for repair.

Will let folks know how the reassembly process goes in a couple of weeks.

Re: Taking Boris Apart

Got some info from CCRB. The unit survived the British postal system (!) but in working on it they noticed "...some cracking on the face of the HUD body and have replaced your HUD with the new style body and HUD bracket the cost for this is £30.00 +VAT".

I'm sort of hoping that the "new style body and HUD bracket" comes with the "Lithium Pod Upgrade (LPU) includes the Autobreathe (ABU)" but somehow I doubt it

Ant S

PS for the record I have no idea how the cracking occurred

If you get the upgrade for £30 +VAT then you really need to write to me, because then my unit is with UPS tomorrow!!!

That's like ~£2470 cheaper...

I like the new HUD, but don't want to send my unit from DK just to get that... Something else will be the reason, when the unit is going to the factory.

Cheers

Re: Taking Boris Apart

30 quid plus VAT plus postage (for Pod etc) 80+quid!
For those who haven't got the new HUD there's a photo attached.
It's about 25mm diameter and 55mm long and the bracket/clip is completely new (sorry about the quality - mobile phone).

Does that bracket raise the hud enough for it to work with an FFM? My guess is that's why it's different. Anyone got a Panorama to try it?

CCRB can supply a spacer to use the original HUD with the Nova FFM, I have it on mine.
