Very interesting.

Quite precise is the statement in EN14143:2003, Section 2:

2 Normative references
This European Standard incorporates by dated or undated reference, provisions from other publications.
These normative references are cited at the appropriate places in the text, and the publications are listed
hereafter. For dated references, subsequent amendments to or revisions of any of these publications apply to
this European Standard only when incorporated in it by amendment or revision. For undated references the
latest edition of the publication referred to applies (including amendments).
EN 132:1998, Respiratory protective devices - Definitions of terms and pictograms
EN 134:1998, Respiratory protective devices - Nomenclature of components
EN 144-1, Respiratory protective devices - Gas cylinder valves – Part 1: Thread connections for insert
connector
EN 144-3, Respiratory protective devices – Gas cylinder valves – Part 3: Outlet connections for diving gases
Nitrox and oxygen
EN 250, Respiratory equipment - Open circuit self contained compressed air diving apparatus - Requirements,
testing and marking
EN 12021, Respiratory protective devices - Compressed air for breathing apparatus
EN 61000-6-1, Electromagnetic compatibility - Part 6-1:Generic standards; Immunity for residential,
commercial and light industrial environments
ISO/IEC 12207, Information technology – Software life cycle process
IEC 61508 (all parts), Functional safety of electrical/electronic/programmable electronic safety-related systems
IEC 60300-3-6, Dependability management - Part 3: Application guide - Section 6: Software aspects of
dependability

As I explained, EN61508 is a normative reference to EN14143. For those not involved with safety nomenclature, that means compliance with it is required.

Cheers,

Alex

Re: Any news?

We have 108 documents supporting the safety case, at last count. These are all being reviewed for release. The large number of documents, and the little changes that get made during the current CE and NORSOK approval process, means it will be late April or Early May for the whole lot to be out, probably in one go.

Cheers,

Alex

New information published

Please find the start of the big update HERE.

The site is working and has huge bandwidth, but SPAMmers are having a Denial Of Service attack on it this morning, possibly taking exception to the very effective SPAM filter we use. Just have patience: the site is up.

This includes the start of the flow of the DV reports that have been prepared, and a full update of the FMECAs. Vol 4 is published for the first time (Mechanical FMECA).

The big mass will still be later, but we would like the most important documents out before then.

Cheers,

Alex

MAN... I'm impressed.

This is a tour de force. Professional work. Anaylsis just like it ought to be, but so sadly rarely is.
This is the quality of work that I expect from the aerospace research industry that I work in daily.

Well done!! (And where do I send my check?)

Tons.

Lots of in-water testing. Am in Norway right now, with another week of the same at two well known Norwegian institutes.

Some extra docs have been posted over the past two months, such as the O2 sensor report, the FMECA Vol 7 and some other DV reports. There are some further very thick reports queued.

Re: Any news?

Alex, you fault tree analysis in vol 6&7 for rebreathers is most comprehensive and professionally made I've seen so far. A lot of things to think over.
You've made a really great contribution to the community, thank you, MAN.

A time when is definitely at a close distance now.

Re: Any news?

Hi Alex and Co,

With regards to the aforementioned Volume 6...

I've only had a few minutes to read some of the data but I must join the chorus of "its very complete and impressive stuff" however a couple of things stuck out, perhaps I missed something but just in case....

The Purpose and Scope gives the impression (to me) that this is the analysis of your proposal (Deeplife Ltd Open Revolution Submission) and even goes as far as saying that all references refer to that submission.

(There is also a couple of typos but my spelling is terrible and I can't load the Rebreather World spellchecker at work so won't point my finger there! )

Later on in the document there are numerous references to a specific existing rebreather by way of failure type (battery bounce) components used (O2 and Dil manual injectors) etc that are clearly not part of the Open Revolution Submission, I do not understand where they fit in the analysis?

The next thing I spotted is that moany of the items are contradictary. For example- O2 Solenoid Stuck closed, the recovery suggested in flying PPO2 manually via manual injection (which of course is somewhat unit specific and doesn't afflict all rebreathers anyway)
On the very next page it is suggested that the manual injector is a failure point that should be eliminated!!

Perhaps I have missunderstood the purpose of this document, its seems to me a list of failures possible on the APD Inspiration, not an analysis of the Open Revolution submission (in which I imagine these issues are resolved)

BEN
