No, it is not one of ours. However, the rebreather on the left of it, with the Technip label, is one of ours: the back cover is laying on the table from the titanium version of the case.Dave I will have to do some decent pictures this coming week and post them. The case is now plastic (lighter, and less liable to dent when dropped). Spunkmire below was right in that the underwater pictures are harder to see details due to the green nature of cold water at this time of year, and the above surface pics are on a table are not on a diver. I will do a set above surface, on a diver, possibly a PDF or Powerpoint so it is easier to follow than just a gallery of snaps. There is a fair bit in the Powerpoint in the O.R. products page on the DL web site though already. Cheers Alex Last edited by AD_ward9 : 11th April 2008 at 11:26. |

| So much more to learn ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Any news? The Work of Breathing curves and data for the sport O.R. unit curves have been published on the "ISC Posts Test Data" thread, as part of the explanation of how WOB works. The commercial version has the injector acting as a venturi accelerator out of the exhale counterlung to reduce the WOB further (an advantage from using variable orifice injectors, the O2 flow is continuous). A couple of years ago we looked at putting a turbine on it, but it required too many stages, as well as the noise issue. We don't use this in the single scrubber version, because there is no point: the WOB is already well within the limits of the standard even measuring WOB inclusive of the diver's own WOB, down to all depths the unit should be used (55msw on air). To allow more direct comparison, we many publish these also using the NEDU test method (which is the Device under test only), and we plan to publish the full WOB verses loop volume curves, along with benchmarks from other popular rebreathers. ![]() ![]() | Powerpoint on OR website Alex I can't open the powerpoint on the web site with my version of powerpoint - I am guessing the one on your site is 2007 - is there any way could get hold of an earlier version up there as well or a pdf version? (I am guessing that others will have had the same issue) |

| So much more to learn ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Any news? There Design Verification Reports are released onto Design Verification thread of the Deep Life web site: Deep Life Ltd: Design Submission for Open Revolution dealing with the power systems for the rebreather. These reports are: 1. Characterisation of the Valence Saphion cells, including accuracy of the battery life prediction function (it turned out to be very accurate). 2. Power systems for the rebreather itself. 3. Power systems in the umbilical terminator in the commercial version of the rebreather. There is another part which is currently in the FMECA Vol 5, dealing with power brown out, drop out, noise and over-voltage. We will split it out and publish it as a DV report alongside the others above. There data is all here for anyone to make rebreathers safer by using Li-Ion cells. This is expensive data, available now with charge so any company that wishes can put in place a reliable power system in their eCCRs. Alex |

| So much more to learn ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Ban reversed, Gag attempt unsuccessful The Rebreather World ban on my posting advertised on the front page of RBW has been lifted after a US Court to whom a manufacturer complained, decided there had been no "trespass" or breach of any order. Just to clarify, there was never any legal claim that the data was libelous. The failure to gag this activity should warn off any party wishing to go down the same route. I hope we are reaching a watershed where safety data on rebreathers is becoming fully open. The spreadsheet involved gave my annual rebreather sales estimates, from which diver exposure per unit and numbers in use were calculated in an open manner, with risk per unit figures calculated in accord with the EN61508 process. We have now added to the spreadsheet tools that another Rebreather World member kindly contributed, that allow information to be mined from the data and the confidence in the answer computed. Some of the conclusions being reached make the data much more interesting than in the original form. I plan reposting the entire spreadsheet to the Deep Life web site later this year when some third parties finish some papers they are working on using that data, with the toolset. Alex |

The inquest you refer to was in the Isle of Man, which is between England and Ireland. The legal issue to which I refer to, which for some reason caused Rebreather World to put in place a ban, was an entirely separate action in the USA. It was nothing to do with any inquest. Alex |
