| So much more to learn ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | FMECA Data Volume 2: MTBCF and MTBF http://www.deeplife.co.uk/or_files/C...ess_051230.pdf contains the data on the failure analysis of the window protecting the CO2 sensor. Cheers, Alex Last edited by AD_ward9 : 12th February 2006 at 14:20. |

| So much more to learn ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | 8.4 Thousand Zillion Hours MTBCF Attached is the MTBCF Calculation per scrubber. This means a single scrubber system has 2.9 Billion Hour MTBCF from electronic components, and 2.6 billion after taking into account mechanical items. The dual configuration for deep diving, is 8.4 Billion Billion hours, or 8400 zillion hours MTBCF. A billion is the US version, i.e. 10^9. Failure rates of mechanical components are maintained by inspection and replacement, and the auto shut off valve, means that most of the components in the breathing loop have their MTBF reduced by the valve MTBF figure, keeping reliability very high. The MTBF is 40k hours because of mechanics: we are looking at this again. It is the seal around the scrubber that causes this. Otherwise, we have 800k hours for electronics and 100k hours for mechanics. Note there are lots of things in the MTBF that are not in the MTBCF (i.e. things that are not life critical whether they work or not, provided the failure is detected and the dive aborted. For example, the failure of a tank pressure sensor). For comparison, no other eCCR we have examined has more than 85k hours MTBCF, and one in production had under 20 hours! A detailed report on the MTBCF reviews is being mounted on our web site, explaining the issues and how they were overcome. I will post a link when we finish mounting it. I should say that all these documents are subject to a final and thorough review later on, but any feedback on any errors would be welcome. Cheers, Alex NB: Found that Excel files are not an allowed form of upload. We will stick it on our web site and put a link in here. Edit: http://www.deeplife.co.uk/or_submission.php has the files, and report. Last edited by AD_ward9 : 12th February 2006 at 14:19. Reason: Added link |
