EuroTek.08 is this years all new European ‘Emerging Dive Technologies Conference’ and is rapidly gathering momentum ready for when the doors open on the weekend of November the 15th & 16th 2008. The organiser’s have chosen an all new conference venue for this event to be held in Birmingham, England at the ‘International Convention Centre’. This event is a dedicated advanced diving conference and is set to showcase the very latest in advanced and technical diving technologies expeditions and presentations.

EuroTek.08 will be complemented by an international cast of speakers and presenters acknowledged as being among the worlds leading authorities in their respective fields of diving expertise. This event will feature a full program of main (new and fresh)presentations; Technical Sessions, workshops and clinics giving you a chance to meet, listen and learn from, some of modern diving's most accomplished personalities.

EuroTek.08 gives you an invitation to learn from a range of advanced diving interests - including deep wreck diving, cave explorations, advanced digital underwater photography and film-making, C2 accident statistical analysis, hyperbaric medicine, decompression management tools and methods, getting started in technical diving, developments in diving technology and much more.

EuroTek.08 will feature a manufactures exhibition showcasing the very latest in equipment innovations, trends, technology, training and the required tools. Helping enhance the technical diving experience the Exhibition will feature everything that advanced divers require from the world's leading equipment manufactures. Diving is a technology-based activity and equipment at this event will be specifically aimed towards advanced diving and you will be able to hear technical sessions from the manufacturers themselves on topics such as C2, configuration, gas boosting and computing. Hands on sessions will present conference delegates with some of the very latest in underwater tools.

EuroTek.08 is set to be a dynamic event focused on the excitement of expedition diving, adventure and tomorrow’s world of diving and the technology that it will use. This event will also feature a legal narcosis ‘Tek divers Banquet’ programmed for the Saturday evening. Thanks for your reply, Carl and I are currently crunching all the numbers and figures, as you would understand looking at the venue we have hired (ICC Birmingham) and the fact that we have to fly in quality speakers from around the world, running an event as such is no cheap venture. We are taking a risk and digging into our own pockets and time. Perhaps the reason why we don’t have one here in the Northern Hemisphere.

All we want to do is break even and everyone leave thinking what a great show. We are looking towards the figures of about £22 for a day pass and £40 for a weekend pass. Behind the scenes EuroTek.08 is really taking shape but there are lots of hidden extras in running a conference that we are dealing with on a daily basis. The last TEK/IANTD show 8 years ago run by Kev Gurr was £18 for a day pass and the venue we have is a little more geared towards running an event like this. We really are gearing this up towards an Oztek Style event, a good conference with good speakers. Both of us are just ordinary Tek divers trying to pull something decent off where everyone gets value for money. The evening gala dinner will have announcements and awards and some stuff we will keep for a surprise and numbers will be limited due to catering logistics.

We have out IT guys currently working on our online registration system, as soon as it is on line and tested we will have tickets for sale.

If this conference works we can expand for another year in the future and have unlimited numbers so those that don’t get tickets don’t loose out.

Doesn't sound totally unreasonable.... shame about being in Birmingham but hey- nothings perfect ;) At least I'm in the right country for an event for once!

Since I made the original post things have been developing well. We have now got a team of conference professionals working with us EuroTek is growing bigger than the pair of us can handle.

Two more seriously interesting CCR Divers/speakers have come on board now which we are really excited about and I will post updates and bios about them on the EuroTek site in the next few days. Eurotek advanced diving conference Our list of speakers is so full now we have had to turn down offers of some big names in the field of scientific diving, so we have some great back up if anyone drops out. Most of these have said they will be coming anyway whether they are speakers or not, so there will be lots of knowledgeable people from the advanced diving world kicking about to talk to as well.

We will have a speaker schedule finalised very soon so if people are thinking of attending for just one day they can see who’s presenting on which day and make their choice. None of the presentations and workshops will be repeated, by working it this way we can get more speakers over the weekend and a wider range of topics for delegates to listen to or attend. All our speakers will be at the Gala evening dinner spread across different tables to socialize with everyone.

For the interest of wreck divers the weekend falls over a spring tide, they are actually Equinox spring tides, something we had actually thought of in advance because we are divers like everyone else!

We will make tickets available as soon as we can, if this falls before Sept 1st we will make a post to let everyone know so those who are planning on going to EuroTek don’t miss out.
