| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Leak in negative check :( Hello forum, I was just assembling my unit together for tomorrows cave dives and while i was doing negative check i started to hear this hissing sound somewhere in my exhale counterlung... After some investigation it leaks from outside of the exhale CL between the 2 upper velcro straps to attached to harness but from inside or between the counterlung and the soft protection pad, kind of difficult to explain! (hope you understand what i mean) It was kind of difficult to find because of the location but how the hell it can start to leak from there ??? I could understand that there would be a puncture when we have been swimming thru some wooden cave supports and doors on them and shit... but no way that this would have damage there !!! Just impossible... I dont think it is like a major issues but still annoying when it just come from no where !!! Anyone have any good advice what to do ? And it is not leaking at all while doing positive, nothing at all !!! Hope to hear from someone soon !!! Cheers Tommi ![]() |

This forum is not what the name says in fact I believe Jerry is the only ISC staff who occasionally reads posts here. Not exactly sure why Stuart chose this name for the forum. Anyway seems like a warranty issue from an outsiders point of view. I can't imagine how you could strain those velcro tabs enough to tear them. Hope you get it resolved soon. Something that can cause a neg check failure is a corroded spring on the ADV shrader valve, preventing it (the upstream valve) from closing when the IP is de-pressurized. Check this maybe??? G |

The stiching on the side of my exhale counterlung is to close to the edge, and leaks very little, but it does and I can hear a minute hiss when doing a negative test. I was able to repair it a bit with Aquaseal applied to the stiching but it still does leak a little. Something I learned to live with. hope you can find your leak and get it solved greetings Matt |

I was sucking my unit to vacuum over and over again to get that hissing sound to keep hissing and playing around with that area where the sound was coming... So some times i touched something close to it and it just stopped and i moved my finger away and it started again... Thats how i come to solution of that specific place ![]() I checked ADV, i checked all o-rings plus all possible thing before i found that leak in there. | New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Leak in negative check :( Hello Matt. This sounds much like mine... It just keeps hissing from somewhere from that stitching even they look as new ! Plus same thing, it keeps hissing for some time and then it stops ! Anyway Leon mailed me too and said its not a big issue if the can stays dry and so one. I dove it today in our icy cave system... 1,5h max depth 45m and max water temp 3.8 degree So bloody cold in last stops but extremely nice viz we had on a whole dive.Anyway while diving i could not find any water in my CL at any time and when i got up i checked my can immediately and it was super dry, only moist on the sides, so its cool, i will do some more investigation on it tonight in water tank but i could not see anything on the surface either when i filled my CL´s up, no bubbles nada nothing. I think it something i will need to live with too, i will try to glue it to start with... | Rebreather World Writer ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Leak in negative check :( yo Tommi If you inflate the loop for a positive check you could put some soapy water on the suspected area, that would reveal the location. Other way to see it better is to inflate the loop and submerge the unit and see for tiny bubbles. You may have to squeeze the counterlungs to put some overpressure into the system to show the very small leak. greetings Matt |
