Thanks guys,

i dont really plan to change mine, just wanted to see what people who have tried both, have to say about it.

i am sure they must have noticed something. personally iam still not that clear between balanced, unbalanced and fixed ip...

Thanks.
Using a rebreather, other than potental depth limitations/creeping, is performance any sort of real-world issue...?

If memory serves, the Mk2 is an unbalanced piston 1st stage. The main purpose of balancing these is to enable a constant performance of the downstream valve (in this case) as the tank pressure decreases.

The performance of a Mk2 would probably be noticed if your using it for OC breathing, but I would venture that it's probably adequate regardless (never used one). For Rebreather purposes I'd expect it to be perfectly fine.

The Apeks is a balanced diaphragm that balances it's upstream valve by placing a balance chamber in the HP side of the orifice, effectively maintaining constant IP performance regardless of the tank pressure.

It's purpose here is, as mentioned above, the ease in which to modify it for constant IP, and hose routing. It's performance is over the top for Rebreather. The only time a difference between the two would be noticeable is on OC use. I also find getting parts for and servicing easy with the Apecs (never tried this yet with the Scubapro).

Hey Spyros,

I emailled ISC and asked the question as I was wanting to standardise all my regs and wanted to have all APEKS.

The reply I got back was that they use DS4 O2 cleaned regs which are exactally the same as the ones you can buy with the only difference being the bottom nut which they specially made for ISC to make them look a bit "Cooler" than the standard ones.

I have had mine fitted for a while now and am pleased to say they have been working perfectly so far.

Have fun diving the HMS Victoria!!!! And I expect to see plenty of pics

Regards,

Lance
Thanks Lance and rest!

funny you mention it. i am thinking of not taking my cam with me. i want to enjoy this dive as much as i can, while taking a cam with me would really be hard work. maybe i'll take it for a dive and then leave it behind. the thing with cameras is that you really take snaps of others, while no one is willing to spend some time filming or photographing, or to be fair, because they dont know the cam, the pictures they take are not worth it....

sorry for hidjacking guys...(its my thread!!!)

i'll sure make a long report.
