Any Meg repair shops in Northern Europe??

Today my unit let me down for the first time ever...dangerously.

About 15 minutes into a scooter dive, my HUD flashed an amber when it should've been green. I stopped the scooter, and removed my hood to listen to the solenoid.....silence....and then the odd very short pshhht, much less than its 1.5 sec firing setting...and then normal....and then silence again, not maintaining SP. Manually flew home, prematurely thumbing the dive.

Battery fine, backlight works, seems like a logic or some other fault preventing the firing from happening. The initialization sequence (when switching on) also no longer works.

I'm emmigrating to Europe in about 3 weeks. Anyone near (like within 2000 km) to Den Haag able to find the fault, and upgrade the existing 2.01j system to 2.06?

Hi
Try Rasmus NORTECH DIVING.DK or Dennis Vessey Megalodon UK
Both are able to solve your problem.
Cheers

Hey Gilles,

i hope you find the solution to your problem. i didn't know about Rasmus, though i know him and he is well reccomended, but i know Dennis Vessey was the appointed guy from ISC to do upgrades and repairs. i found out when i was enquiring about upgrading my meg.

i am curious now, was it something with the 9V issue? you have any suspicions?

Thanks.

Had brand new 5-pack of double AA's. 7.2-7.0 V

Don't believe it is batteries. More likely just too much bashing around in the last 30 months of frequent diving, and transcontinental travelling.

Watch your PO2, ALWAYS!

Hmmm, sounds like the solenoid... question tho, is it mechanical or electrical...?

have you rebuilt the solenoid to eliminate corrosion/stuck as a cause?

-Tim

Please keep us informed... always curious...

This a.m. I switched it on, and the same thing....nothing, no "tick, tick, tick". I dis-assembled the solenoid (done this many times), clean as a whistle.

Put it back together, and now it works.

Some relevant facts;

1) The 2.01j version I have was dis-continued shortly after I received mine because (I understand) it had a fault of the default injection period after switching was too short. I didn't get it upgraded due to my distant location, and the lack of professionalism from Malaysian Customs.

2) Pre-dive it was fine, but when it failed to maintain SP in the water, it was definately injecting randomly (i.e. too short, normal, or no firings at all).

3) This solenoid has never been subjected to significant corrosion. A little bit on the exterior, but interiors have always remained pristine.
