One needs to also investigate if you could pack two 9V volt cells (in parrallell) to double the capacity.Unless I remember wrong, IIRC, this was discussed a while back and the ISC electronic could handle the 9V so all needed was making a connectiont o snap the 9V in. I would test it if I have ISC electronic, but I use Shearwater. Regardless, my Shearwater-YBOD is in the process of being fitted with 9V battery to drive the solenoid. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Meg Low Battery Warning and Battery Compartment Thanks Brian Mine was a bit longer, like 2 or 2.5 hours. I don't recall the voltage that I finished with. Since the pack was dead I just replaced it.No problems, very good advice. I started with 5.9 on a dive and ended up with 5.4 and everything was working OK at the end, that was for an hour. What was the stats on your dive??? Brian

Like Decoweenie I am interested, any pictures??? I take it from your post that you have run the Meg Primary and solenoid with a 9V battery, without some form of voltage regulation to bring the 9V down to 7-7.5V. Is that correct??? |

Was it just as emotional??? )9V Adaptor??? This was discussed a some time ago on an earlier thread. A while back I did a 4 1/2 hour test dive w/ a 9 v alkaline in my primary running the solenoid normally. That battery is still waiting on my bench for more testing- just tested it at about 8.4 v no load. Typical 9 v alkaline has about 400 mah energy; lithium 9 v has 3 times that. Harness is dirt simple. See pic. I keep it in my save a dive kit along w/ a new, sealed lithium 9 v battery. In reality, would not make a bad normal power source, especially for the secondary.Like Decoweenie I am interested, any pictures??? I too prefer the C cell 3.6 lithiums in series as the duration beats anything else out there. attached is a file from ISC about batterys

Ken where did you find those connectors? did you take them off the previous ones? or is there a direct link that one can buy them? Many thanks. spyros

Many thanks. spyros I actually built mine using new Molex parts. They were bought from DigiKey, Digi-Key Corporation - USA Home Page on line, using the exact part numbers spelled out in the pdf document that Ron so conveniently provided above. Note: be sure to buy the gold plated pins to avoid corrosion issues. All that said, recycling the connectors from a spent battery pack will work every bit as well and save you a bit of time & $$$. I just wanted to build up some spare packs & test items and did not have enough spent packs to recycle. As far as the 9v battery clip goes, you can get them from DigiKey as well, but they’re common as dirt just about everywhere- I bought mine locally. Ken
