![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: MEG Arrived...and I don't think I have enough Velcro Attachment Points on the CL' ROFLMAO!!! That was my thought exactly when I saw the CL's for the first time. I started diving the rig and changing the hose routing as I would find that one configuration didn't work so well. As I did this I started cutting off the unused straps. When I finally settled on a hose routing I cut off everything except for three, the upper outside two on the inhale CL which holds the O2 manual add hose and the upper outside one on the exhale CL which holds the wing inflator hose. I run the SPG's down between the CL and the padded back side of the lungs. Once you have everything trimmed up it's not bad but when you first see these things you're like MY GOD...what in the hell were they thinking?

A VERY sharp pair of scissors and a steady hand BAM ![]() But wait till you finish your training and are comfy with the Rig, you don't want to be cutting off points you might later need. I use a loop of bungee from the harness to keep hoses in place. Some of the velcro on the cl`s was catching on my neo drysuit and shredding it. |

Still I cut nearly all of them off. I say nearly because I still have the outer ones on the exhale lung. I use these to tame the O2 line, which I've re-routed to the manual add valve on the exhale lung. I put 30 - 50 hours on my meg before I started cutting things off.... |

I also cut off the fastex buckles and now use dog clips to secure the bottom of the CLs. I was diving a brand new rig last week (not my own) and remembered what a PIA all those velcros are. Some folks like them though and it is far easier to take stuff off than put it on.

I found the "normal" hose routing put the hoses against my face and neck. I rerouted the hoses along the outside of the counter lungs and it was fine. I take the loops I am not using and roll up the outside facing tab tight against itself tight. I then fasten the inside facing tab around it that. It holds nice and the loop material is out of the way. No real need to cut it at all. -p |
