I am still confused of what exactly you are looking for via the Meg "flash cards" ?AFAIK, the HUD flashes the Smithers Code of PO2. Nothing else. One red for each 0.1 below 1.0, and one green for each 0.1 above 1.0 of loop PO2

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Meg HUD Flash cards To be clear; I own a Meg, I just have not trained on it yet. I am trying to prepare as best as possible prior to undertaking the instruction in June. I thought perhaps someone had prepared flash cards to help their students learn the HUD. Based on what I am seeing for replies, is it so intuitive that cards are unnecessary? I certainly understand how the HUD works, I was aiming to reinforce my basic understanding with practice. Thanks for your understanding! I hate being unprepared. |

OK, I understand now... ![]() As mentioned, the HUD flashes are in Smithers Code. So for example, if sensor #1 is reading 0.7 PO2, it will flash red-red-red. And if PO2 is 1.2, it will flash green-green. This will repeat for each of 3 sensors. So if: sensor 1 reads 1.2 sensor 2 reads 1.1 sensor 3 reads 1.3 The HUD will flash: green-green---green---green-green-green (i.e. the dash - represents pauses) There should be other posts explaining the same if you search under "HUD Smithers"...

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Meg HUD Flash cards I'm following. So it is very simple. How easy do you find it in actual diving conditions to monitor? Do you find yourself interpreting the HUD quickly and easily enough in the water? I appreciate your feedback, thank you. |

It is very simple and intuitive. As Tim said, it will be easier and faster to understand it in use than to read the explanations.I have used HUD flashing the same Smithers Code from several units (i.e. MK-15 modifed, Hammerhead, Meg and Sheartwater) but the latest Shearwater HUD is by far the nicest IMHO. The HUD has all 3 LEDs line up and flash at the same time, so if one sensor is deviated from the other two, it is seen right away. For example: Sensor 1 is 1.2 Sensor 2 is 1.2 Sensor 3 is 1.3 then the flashes will be simultaneously: green-green green-green green-green-green The extra green will stand out since the other 2 LEDs remain off. This acts as a soft-alarm...

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Meg HUD Flash cards Others have done a fine job explaining how the Meg HUD works. It really is intuitive. As I recall, one of the members here built a Meg Hud simulator for his web page. A search of the archives would probably turn up a link for you. Brian
