What do people want from Apecs 3

I would go for this too. If we could just retrofit an updated handset to the existing head I would be happy.

Cheaper, yes. Easier, no. That is the solution we are currently all using, but it sure would be nice to have all that functionality in one place, rather than having to wear two sets of instrumentation (especially when, like me, you don't have all that much forearm real estate).

In my view, BT functionality should be a part of Apecs 2. The 'bug' where the handset goes to sleep in the middle of a dive should also be removed from Apecs 2.

Apecs 3 should be - well, a lot like the hammerhead. Changes I personally would like to see (from the HH) are:
- more battery - in the head instead of the handset (I know, this is a design decision...)
- Smaller (esp. slimmer/flatter) handsets that are more contoured to the arm
- Deco information on the secondary handset as well as the primary (redundant)

This would give the purists a controller-only version with basic dive info (depth/time/temp...) and the bleeding-edge adopters all the bells and whistles.

I'm with those who would like to see Bottom Timer functionality in APECS 3.0. I'm not opposed to on-board deco, but if there's going to be deco software, I'd like to have an awful lot of control over how it behaves. That would include the ability to turn it off and run BT only. I also don't want any "Lockout" if you violate it's profile.

I'd also like to see the primary handset on the right hand side, instead of the left. I guess it's the cave diver in me asking for this one. Most folks hold lights, inflate wings/drysuits, etc with their left hand and drive the scooter with their right hand. If the primary were on the right, I could monitor the secondary, via the HUD, and easily keep an eye on the primary without having to get off the trigger.

Lastly, I too would like to see downloadable memory. This should include all the usual profile data AND the pO2 data. My biggest reason for wanting that is so I can start passing the data off to my friends at DAN/Duke Hyperbarics. Profile data is good, and I get that now with a Sensus recorder, but profile data that includes pO2 would be better.

-Standby Switches on handsets, as well as primaries in head
-3+ line handset display with no rotating info lines
-Ergonomic and lower drag handset design
-3 LED HUD with PpO2 = 1 as blue colour not orange, and faster flash rate

That's all I can think of right now

Hi Seb,

pretty much agree with everything you listed. About the HUD, do you think it'll be easier to see than Orange? Do you have any experience with a HUD with a blue light on another rebreather?
