![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | HH Calibration and Battaries, Hi thought I would post the question here, I have an Insparation with HH electronics newest vertion, Mod 1 training very soon. How often do you guys calabrate useing up all that o2 to flush the unit? The manual says they hold calabration quite well but does not recomend a set time period, the mv readings are usefull but whats the norm. Battaries, Im useing good 1.5volt AAs but is it worth useing the higher voltage ones dont want to run out on a dive have seen how the unit reboots and injects 02 when the battaries go low. |

I would say it depends on how well you carried out the calibration.. I do a stand alone calibration using some fittings I had made (look for an article accurate po2 calibration).. I know when I do a cal like this its going to be more accurate than any quickie cal a person would do, even if it drifts a bit.. When I go on holiday, I generally calibrate it at the start of the trip, then each day just do a simple check.. I expose the head to air and see what it shows, then I do a quickie oxygen flush.. If i see its within a few percent, I let it be.. If not I do a better flush and see if it gets within expected ranges, if not then I'll go though a full calibration.. look at my article and the readings I had after several weeks without a calibration, Its in the range that some controllers are in right after a calibration because they assume you can't do a good o2 flush and adjust the po2 downwards!...

It comes as a culture shock after getting trained on an Inspo but I hardly bother with calibration anymore unless significant time has passed since I last did one. (Over a week). On the inspo I used to calibrate all the time just before every dive. On the HH I do it once and do it properly and thats it. I take the cells out of the plate and clean the connections with contact cleaner. I use a cotton bud to clean the pins in the cells and I just spray the molex connectors. Then I assemble the cells each marked 1,2&3 and put them in a freezer bag. I fill and flush the freezer bag with pure 02 using a dog dick lift bag gun. When the readings are stable i calibrate both hand sets and check the MV output. Then I alow them to settle in air and check them again. Thats it job done ill dive the unit every day like that for a week. I have never been on a fortnights dive trip so I have never had to push it that long. On the dive ill check the cells at 6m on 02 and at max depth on dill and Ill check they are showing true to calibration in ambient air during scrubber changes. When I had a Classic with a forth cell i hardly ever calibrated my VR3. Id check it in ambient and check it when i was calibrating the Classic and it seemed to always be fine so I couldn't see the point of repeated calibration. ATB Mark Chase

I think it is the small rubber attachement that you can put on the end of a low pressure hose. When you push the rubber to the side it blows gas out the end in the direction you face it and the more you push the higher the gas flow. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: HH Calibration and Battaries, Thanks guys, have seen classic users calabrating every day, so no need for this. Keep an eye on readings on air dil flush at depth seems a good referance. Dogs dick is a new one for me but I might refer to it from now on . |
