I would really like an optima

I really enjoy the posts poeple place on this website. It is helping me decide which rebreather to buy.

I have heard many negative comments concerning other rebreathers in the posts of other manufacturers. I see very few comments in the posts on the Optima rebreather (positive or negative). Does this mean that all the bugs have been worked out? Are here any comments on the failures of the electronics?

Are there any recent experiences?

Thanks

Doug,

There actually are a fair number of comments on the Optima... You can find them by either using the search option at the top of the page or going into the full list of forums and drilling down into the Optima forum.

Good Luck!

Re: I would really like an optima

Hi,

Good luck on your decision. I can tell you that I spent quite a long time trying to make the same decision as you.

I decided for the Optima for quite a few reasons, and if you do a search you will find a few other threads on the topic. Many people on this forum have opinions, which is not totally a bad thing, but take their advice as just that; Advice. In the end, you will need to decide for yourself.

The great thing about this board, is there is a huge amount of collected wisdom in the members here, and they will be able to answer any specific questions you might have (e.g. Does a back-mounted counter lung breathe as easy as an over-the-shoulder counter lung?).

Good luck with your journey.

Cheers,
Michael

Re: I would really like an optima

Thank you both for the input. I have reviewed the discussion threads and the one big point I notice is that Dive-Rite seems to correct the problems relatively quickly.

I am going to be taking my croissover training on the Optima soon and I hope to have a rebreather before the end of March.

Doug

Doug,
Congratulations! You'll be happy with your decision.
Dive Rite is a rock solid company, which in my experience not only builds excellent products, but, also excells in customer service, should you need it.
Good luck and have fun with your Optima!

Cornel

Great choice,

If you want to get some dives in warm water, stop in at Dixie Divers in Deerfield Beach. We are always doing ccr dives.

Bill are you back in the States now? If so call me because it appears as though I need to change my plans. Fergus also.
