Has anyone tried the Optima with LP Fabers 13's?
I am considering buy a set to use on shallow dives and save some stress on my back.

I have not tried the LP 13's but I have tried the AL 13's. If you don't have a problem filling daily or so, (have your own gas supply or a facilty nearby), the AL's they are great. Less weight. Good trim, as you can bring the regs higher.

Have you considered the AL 14s? Full fill at 2015psi, light, cheap & easy to find.

Re: Optima with LP 13

I tried the 14 cf 2015 psi but was too long bringing the weight of the valves lower and messing with the balance of the unit.
I really like the Faber 13 cf LP (steel) for salt water and I the AL 13 cf Luxfer or Catalina for fresh water. The Catalina is a little be wider and shorter but you almost can't notice the diference.
The volume for me was enough for any dive because usually when I do a deep dive I don't do a second dive in sequence and if you do 2 dives around 140 ft the volume was more than enough.
I just can't waste gas with this size of tank.

Cheers,
