New HH Turns off

I just got my Optima on the weekend, the HH turns of by itself about 30 seconds after leaving the water

. I don't know what they have done but Jason Blackwell my Inst was shoked at the change from his model and the last ones that have come into the country. I was having bad thoughts about soaking them in water and all that but No it's great.

They increased the diamter of the hole around the wetsensor and that makes it shut off automatically.

We increased the diameter of the hole around the Wet Switch after Paul Raemaykers experimented with his and came up with an improvement.

That said, the unit should not turn off "immediately" after you leave the water - you can set the Auto Shut Down anywhere from 2 minutes to 30.

Dip them in water (to turn them on) then remove them and time how long it takes for them to shut down (if you are set to 2 Mins on the ASD).

Good to hear that the new units are top notch. I was the lucky reciever of one of the other units that hit Australia in the same shipment as yours (thanks Tony!).

Quick questions if I may, have you done your trainaing yet, and if so, how did it go? Any pointers? Pearls of wisdom? To dos, and not to dos?

Hi Michael,
Got back form Bris on Mon arvo, my course was a cross over so it was less stress for Jason. The only thing I am still working on is the position of the transpac, but time will sort that. Just remember to to keep playing witht he functions on the HH till you get it right.

Got my unit wet today, units stayed on for a good half hour till I removed the batteries, hope this dosent go on, not good for repet dives or battery life.
Going to do the wet test now, auto shut dwn set at 2 mins. will post results.

Primary 4 min, Secondry 5 min.

new? used? how old??

if its more than a few months old you might need to enlarge the hole slightly around the wetswitch, and check for residue..

check the HH threads, there are a list of issues/fixes..

I haven't heard of any wetswitch issues on units manufactured since around august..
