![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Opinions on bail-out I picked up an OMS 20cf steel skinny many moons ago and I'm so used to having it as bailout I'm sure it will follow me onto my Topaz. With my "rescue kit" strapped to it, it's my bestest buddy. Now if only I can find a deep submersible 406 MHz (with integral GPS) EPIRB to take along.... |

I already informed DRE that I will be picking mine up sometime this week. I still intend to always, even at shallow depths, carry a bailout bottle. However, with a cutoff installed, I like having more options. They are availible now and they work quit[e] well. I like the idea of being able to take a breath, if needed, from the Rite Source while deploying my bailout bottle regulator. This also preserves the option to pass a bottle off without having a BOV connected or a regulator on a necklace. Yet, this keeps an open circuit breath or two within inches of my mouth at all times. I just can't see how having more options can be bad given the small potential risk involved. Yes, there will be a few more potential failure points at connections. However, there are plenty of connections going from the first stage already. I think the additional risk is small and the potential benefit, should you need it in a pinch, outweighs it. |

| EBT called me stroppy! Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Opinions on bail-out I'm usin' the Rite Source without shut-off. off board bailout has sometimes been 2X AL80 and O2 bottle. It seems a bit much but is doable. When I also bring the scooter I really feel like a big bulbous spaceship, hovering through the earth's cracks

Slung to the left like a stage it isn't even really noticeable. |

Slung to the left like a stage it isn't even really noticeable. "not really noticeable" depends on the rebreather. Handling stages on a rebreather with OTS counter lungs is not as easy as on OC. Especially if you are carying other stuff like a video camera (e.g. Phenom) or a still camera with big strobes. |

I only carry the O2 for about 75 feet before I stash it somewhere so it really doesn't matter what size it is.
