Re: Delivery Time For Rebreather

Now that a couple of real customers have theirs I would expect everyone to have theirs in a couple of months. My understanding of the goal is 10 a week and the last I heard they had over 80 orders. Remember I don't speak for Dive Rite so do call up demanding a date yet. But the production unit is everything promised and I love the new hand sets.

Re: Delivery Time For Rebreather

I don't want to bash Dive Rite or anyone else involved in the O2ptima production.
Take the carrol comments of mine with a sense of sarcastic humor.
I can't think of a rebreather that wasn't off to a rocky start or had delays at one point of its production, delivery dead lines and rebreathers are a (finally).

From the mighty Cis-Lunar to the PRISM and the Vision equiped APD units there have been delays, and Andrew Driver writes about some in his article Rebreather Purchase.

Would you kindly put your keeping promises comment into perspective?
When did you order your rebreather, and what was the estimated delivery date at that time?

The initial date announced was end of June, which kept changing to end July, August September, October and finally November. That's 5 months past the initial delivery estimate, after all.

You are absolutely correct! and I did follow the saga!
Putting things in perspective is always the right thing to do, and I have learned over the years to respect most peoples opinions,
or point of view, and I respect yours.
Fair enough, I waited until I got a warm fuzzy feeling about the unit, it's technology, and it's development.
I placed my order in September with an "estimated" ETA of end of Oct, mid Nov.
That short delivery time was a major, but not the only, contributing factor in my decision to go Optima.
All other issues were researched and considered, but this was high on my list of "must have" factors.
I really was'nt bashing other manufacturers, but lately I have witnessed delivery horror stories.
So I was pessimistic, as most of us are on the subject of delivery.
And you are again correct; the logistics of building/assembling a CCR are complex
and depend on numerous factors that are not always easely controllable.
All that being said, I have my unit, and that's where the rubber hits the road!
Not living in a perfect world, I am expecting some ups and downs with a new brand unit
However, I am very optimistic about this product and the people behind it.
That may have lead to my uncontrollable enthusiasim and gratitude
Cornel

I have no horse in this race but 5 months is 8 better than my friend who
has yet to receive his PRISM... ( a unit in production for years now)

Re: Delivery Time For Rebreather

Lucky you, getting one of the first batch that went to DRE.

I'm pretty sure you would have been much less delighted after DEMA,
as the O2ptima was a huge success with sales beyond anything that
could have expected.

Considering that it's a new design it seems like a fairly save bet.
DiveRite obviously knows how to make bags, regs and the related
bits, the Hammerhead has been around for a while and should be
well sorted and the scrubber is so simple it shouldn't fail.

I'm looking forward to your experiences and dive reports in the future.
Dive safe. Dive rite.

Also a unit that was out of production for what, 4 or 5 months?

But I'm not even gonna try making excuses for SMI, their current and recent ability to get orders to customers leaves much to be desired.
