Reading Material for Mixed Gas CCR

Hi, can anyone recommend any reading material/websites for me as I am just about to do my mixed gas course on the O2ptima ?

From what I have looked at so far, Inspiration manual, Tdi manuals and to what I have heard, there's not much to go on. I also heard that the course doesn't have a set exam, just one made up by the Instructor ?

Kev,

"CCR Trimix Simplified" by Mel Clark, a good read, not unit specific but generic CCR and spells things out in plain English. Got mine from Rebreather World Store, quite a few others on here have bought it as well.

I'll second the above. It's a very easy read and well published, too.

Curt (silentscuba) is an alternate source if the Store is out.

Well I'm not getting on that band wagon because I didnt get a copy of the book when I went through Mel's course. Just kidding -- Mel's book is sure to become an industry staple.

Not trying to rock the boat, but I own a copy of "CCR Trimix Simplified" by Mel Clark. I bought it based on the recommendations on Rebreather World. In my humble opinion, it is a terrible "book*." It reads more like an incredibly lame powerpoint presentation, with poor grammar and typos galore. Not the quality I expect from someone with "Dr." in her name.

cheers

* only if you consider pages that look like they were printed and bound at home a book.

Sounds like you might have a collectors item on your hands. You obviously have a first edition.

My copy was the 2nd revision which might explain why I thought it was well done.

Re: Reading Material for Mixed Gas CCR

Hi Kev, Mel Clark's book is a must have, good material! To my students I have them read the Tek CCR from IANTD, also good stuff and required material for that agency. And, depending on the agency, there is a specific exam for that level.
Good luck with your course.
Best,
Zé.

My Instructor used the Technical Diver Encyclopedia by Tom Mount and Tec Closed Circuit Rebreather CCR Technical Diving - Normoxic Trimix - Cave -Wreck by Tom Mount, David Sawatzky, Joerg Hess. Really good material. I just finish my trimex with the Optima I enjoyed this course more than any course I have don so far.
