Any upgrades coming out of the Optima

Hello all,

I am about to purchase an Optima but before I do I wanted to see if there were any upgrades coming up that I might want to wait for until they are included before purchasing.

thanks so much

Re: Any upgrades coming out of the Optima

Dive Rite, like every other manufacturer, is always researching to improve the units they produce. However, as far as I know (and I certainly don't know it all), there is no major announcement about to be made about a big change in the unit. Besides, Dive Rite has been very reasonable in making upgrades for Optima purchasers. For example, the change over to the FX case was a very sweet deal.

Buy and enjoy your Optima. Sure, there will be changes down the road. However, I suspect that you will have many hours on your unit by the time the next big one comes.

What is the conversion price to a FX model including controllers?

Re: Any upgrades coming out of the Optima

Last I checked the upgrades to the new handsets, meaning you have to give up the old ones, was $1595.00. There is an additional fee of $495.00 if you want Deco in the Secondary Handset.

As far as the FX upgrade, I believe it was under $300.00

They have new lungs with new liners to resist bacteria. New pockets on the back side. Also heard the delron computers will have a new upgrade for down loading dives to your computer, 6 to 8 months away.

Pockets? Can you be a little more specific about these?

Re: Any upgrades coming out of the Optima

Bet dollars to doughnuts those would be weight pockets to let the counterlung ride better.

Would be interesting to see the anti-bacterial lining.

Is it just me or does anyone thing they should seperate the hose from the single connection to a double connection on the counterlung like the PRISM?
(Probably just me.)

But that would allow the counterlung and hose comination to lay flatter than having the hose mounted on top of the counterlung.

Regards, Andrew
