Please do not take this as gospel. This is without the Delrin handset upgrade.I understand that the frame is differnet also. Is this true? Any other diiferences?

(It is possible that they won't since there have been changes to the frame over time.) The new frame is similar but cut down a little in some places in order for the FX case to fit properly.Any other diiferences? Instead of using the velcro straps to hold the tanks, they replace it with the Remora system. The new case is great, and it makes using the Optima even easier. |

Re: Conversion to FX I am looking to do the same thing I was under the impression that the remora was an aftermarket add on. So I figured I would just get the Al back plate and the new cover and that would be all I needed. Of course my buddies all thought I was trying to be cheap but I looked at it as buying a loaf of bread just for two slices. Does anybody not like the remora system? I saw a diver with an FX and it seemed to make removing the tanks more of a P.I.T.A. -B

Re: Conversion to FX I asked Tienuts (diveRiteExpress) this today. He told me about $200. Please do not take this as gospel. This is without the Delrin handset upgrade. That is NOT what I said - I said I wasn't sure what the cost was. I said I think it is between $300 and $400 for just the case upgrade, and not the handsets. You would have to call Dive Rite directly for sure. I am looking to do the same thing I was under the impression that the remora was an aftermarket add on. So I figured I would just get the Al back plate and the new cover and that would be all I needed. Of course my buddies all thought I was trying to be cheap but I looked at it as buying a loaf of bread just for two slices. This would not be sufficient - a standard backplate would not work, as there would be no means to support the cannister. Also you would need the hardware, clips, bolts, the foot and angle bracket. If you are an existing Optima owner, Dive Rite might sell you these parts a-la-carte, but I think you will find it is much easier and cheaper to just have Dive Rite do the conversion. Does anybody not like the remora system? I saw a diver with an FX and it seemed to make removing the tanks more of a P.I.T.A. Although not ideal, the remora is much better than the old method, IMHO.Last edited by Tienuts : 21st May 2008 at 16:37.

Re: Conversion to FX Thanks for the help Tienuts! Guess I am getting the upgrade! So let me see if I can put this together correctly ~$400 for the upgrade ~$2000 for the new handsets ~$600 for the Al back plate Give or take a few hundred bucks... Anybody tried the Miflex XTREME hoses on their Optima yet? Man she is going to be pissed! -Byron

I thought the key to the FX was the mobile foot... which your going to chuck anyway if you go w/ the DSIX plate....So let me see if I can put this together correctly ~$400 for the upgrade ~$600 for the Al back plate Give or take a few hundred bucks... -Byron

Re: Conversion to FX ~$400 for the upgrade I think the Delrin handsets are cheaper than that. ~$2000 for the new handsets ~$600 for the Al back plate Anybody tried the Miflex XTREME hoses on their Optima yet? I think Jeff (swadiver) put the MIFLEX on his unit, but in my option, they are not worth it. You're solving a problem that doesn't exist. The backplate is another story though... Unfortunatly, the Dsix plate will only work with the FX case, not the classic case.
