FYI, I did my *entire* CCR trimix course on a single SAFT cell I bought from DRE.

The LST cells will perform much better than aa alkaline cells (especially in cold water) but about 50% of the LS cells... out of my LS cells I normally expect 30-40 hours of dive time (mix of auto and manual) on the primary, I would assume the lst cells should give you 15 or so hours of dive time (a bit better in warm water)..

If there is that much difference I find it a bit odd that Dive Rite sells (promotes) the LST cells for the Optima? Seems odd given there doesn't seem to be much of a price difference LS vs LST, or something like that to merit it?

Or is the LST perhaps the more commonly used and avaliable version of the cell in general?

more likely it was what they easily found.. I too was surprised they were selling LST cells..

There was a data sheet about a year ago that was not totally correct.. they had LST and LS on the same sheet and only specifically listed as the SS case being the difference.. The discharge curves were for the ls14500, but I could see someone missing it.. also at that time the discharge rating for the ls14500 was listed as 100ma, its been upped to 130ma.. on the current LST data sheet you can clearly see the 50% capacity (or original) is clearly around 50ma fro continuous draw..

this is where I normall order from
Saft 3.6V 2250mAh Lithium Battery LS14500

in europe this seems reasonable..

SAFT LS14500 / CR-SL760 / AA - Lithium special purpose battery - 3.6V - Batterycity.eu
