I booked my trip through MBT Divers in Pensecola FL. The name of the charter boat was H20 Below. They were very accomodating with mix and 02 fills in the last minute. The dive was on Saturday morning. I was sitting on my couch Friday morning and decided why not. So everything was last minute. I grabbed one of the last spots left, loaded up my gear and hit the road by noon. I arrived at the shop at 7am Saturday and got my fills. Was on the boat by 8am heading out to the wreck. The weather was great. Surface was almost glass. The water temp was around 64 degrees. The current started to pick up a bit on the second dive. Visibility was around 70 feet maybe. Overall it was a great trip. We were back at the dock by 4pm. I was back on the road to Houston by 5.30pm. Was back home in bed by 1am Sunday.

Re: USS Oriskany

Just wanted to chime in here... I've been diving the Big O since the first week it was open to the public. We're about two hours away so we have 40 or so dives on it. If you haven't been....Go! The pics just don't do it justice. It's incredible how big it is, 200 ft wide and almost 900 feet long. The tower is at about 70 feet, and the deck is 130. You can hit the filght deck and enter the main crewway and ascend through the tower and still be within rec limits. The water is usually pretty nice, and even on a bad day it's still divable. There are starting to be some fish on it. The only negative I can say is it's a hot spot so sometimes it looks like a parking lot out there. We usually go during the week and we are on a private boat so it's not too bad. Hope to see you there! FD

Re: USS Oriskany

can anyone recommend a rebreather friendly dive operator to do the Oriskany? I've seen MBT in here... any others?

Cheers...

Re: USS Oriskany

Thanks for the photos and trip report... I'm excited to get some dives in on the Oriskany as well!

Should be back in the good 'ole USA late this summer.
