![]() | New lung size option for O2ptima Was configuring a order today for a new student. Found out there are 2 lung size options now. A 2L lung set for smaller divers And the 3L lung set for us larger divers. adding an order for a 2L set for my girlfriends unit to see how she likes them. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: New lung size option for O2ptima The 2L have been available for a while, discussed in a previous thread. Lisa, Peri, Kathleen have all been diving these for some time... 5' to 5'3" in height. The 2L's also have a slightly different shape... more like a paddle. Initial use with an unmodified O2ptima usually is not very satisfactory. Position is critical... user of the 2L's may also need to modify corrogated hose lengths, some modification to position of the unit moving where the mounting bolts, several other minor tweeks, like changing some of the LP hoses. I've done this now for several and once we are done with the adjustments and mods... they are all very happy with their units, much better than with the 3L counter lungs. With the adjustments the 2L O2ptima is one of the best choices available for very small individuals. -- Mark |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: New lung size option for O2ptima I do hope someday they come out with a bigger set, I have the 3L and can hit the ADV every breath if I inhale deeply; thought I was on a dolphin there until I adjusted to breathing in less. Mind you I'm bit bigger than avg, which is why I use my inspo for working dives. Kinda cool that diveriteexpress sells AP rbs, hope they start stocking more of the accessories. Then open the DSV.... now the CL's are completely empty but no vacuum... take as deep a breath as you possibly can, really pack it in to your lungs.... then put your mouth on the DSV and exhale as completely as you can into the CL's. If you can put it all in, then you don't need larger CL's. If the OPV pops off, then yeah you probably do. Here is probably the issue: You need to adjust the counterlungs to have them ride correctly on your shoulders, this is the most common error. You may need to signifcantly loosen the V-strap, another common cause of problems. You may also need to adjust the ADV, in my opinion it comes from the factory set a bit too easy for the inhalation effort. |

Make sure that they are not strapped down tight with the V-strap, and don't strap them onto the webbing at all. Let them move freely over your shoulders. Only use the quick connect straps to fasten them to the Optima frame. I also use a double-ender to clip them together at the D-rings, which does not negatively impact the volume, but helps with streamlining the setup.Kinda cool that diveriteexpress sells AP rbs, hope they start stocking more of the accessories. Having said that, while the size is sufficient for me, it's not very large either. I'm essentially always running minimum volume or close to minimum volume--which is of course a good thing to do anyway, but takes a bit to get used to. |

I tried it today and liked the way it felt. Seemed to have a little more freedom of movement so to speak. Not as restricting. Have some green... Richie |
