I use the hose protectors that came with the unit, they took abrasion pretty well in all the caves and wrecks I dove with the optima. I noticed in pictures that some optimas have other types of hose protectors, those might be even better.

Re: First 100 Hour Update on O2ptima

I added custom loop hose covers on my O2ptima because I am shallow and vain. However, the ones that come with the unit are just fine, and they protect the hoses well.

Congratulations and great report (from Afghanistan!) Howard! I look forward to catching up with you in the Fall. Let's get together and finish the closed circuit hypoxic trimix course in cave country!

Re: First 100 Hour Update on O2ptima

Good post and I'm sure you will enjoy another 100 dives. The new handsets and software is a good upgrade when you get a chnce to do it.

Re: First 100 Hour Update on O2ptima

Congratulations Howard. I'm still chasing you (currently I have 85 hours) so I better get back in the water. The doctors have had me not diving for the past 3 months as I have unexplained enimea. I am happy to say that they have just given me the OK to pool dive so I told my Doc I was heading for Vanuatu and he asked why? I said that if I can only dive in a pool then it would have to be the swimingpool on the SS President Coolidge at 54 meters (He was not impressed). By the way how many hours have you got up on mix? Once again congrats on reaching this milestone.

Re: First 100 Hour Update on O2ptima

Well, if you want to set any kind of goal to reach, try catching up to John P. Jones. He likely has more time on the Optima than anyone alive on the planet by about five times over!
